Hello!

I just received my shooter lane kickout protector for my IM game, in order to preserve the oh so mighty shooterlane.

Im just not sure that I really want to use it now that I have it. You see, I bought the protector with the mindset of preserving the game, keeping it snazzy. But the fact that I have to create two holes in the machine to fit a metal bracket that isn't all that great looking has stopped me in my tracks for now.

If the point of the device is to avoid damage, then isn't it ironic that you have to damage your machine in order to use it?

So now I'm left with the following options;
1) I can install it and avoid damage.
2) I can wait and hope for no damage, then cover it up with the protector if it occurs.
3) I can not use it at all, and put an invisible piece of mylar, and some nail polish on the spot that needs protections...

Any opinions or advices?

Quoted from Butch2099:

You don't make new holes. You use the ones that are there holding the shooter assembly down. You will see it once you take it apart.

No.

I have the protector you mention, but the one I ment was probably the shooter lane kickout protector. Ill edit my first post.

In general, isn't it odd to cause damage to your machine, in order to prevent damage?

By rail you mean the area to the right of the shooter lane?

Quoted from johninc:

Think of it as a part that should have been there originally. Did it harm the machine when they drilled holes for the pop bumpers or the flippers?

I guess.. But it wasnt there originally !

Also, it's looking better without it. (At least without damage.. and it will cover up eventual damage later?)
