R U supposed to pull that thin guide rod straight up and out to install the protector.
If so... kinda scary to do! Looks like a nail head on end pounded in to PF.

Yep. For that reason I didn't install mine for fear of messing up the clear or wood. If you look on the Batman 66 club thread there are pictures someone posted that slotted that cliffy hole nicely and simply slid it in place which is much better in my opinion. Good luck awesome game!!

I istalled this Cliffy in just a few minutes, take a small punch and gently tap the ball guide out from the bottom side of the playfield, install the Cliffy and tap the ball guide back into place. Once you do it you will be surprised how easy of a job it is.
Good luck
PS. Don’t forget to install a Cliffy drain hole protector while your at it.

Yep, just take your time and slowly tap the ball guide out, install your Cliffy and you’re all set. Don’t be scared! You’ll be happy later that you installed that Cliffy.

You could just lend that SLE to your good buddy John for a year or two and get it back with Cliffys installed.
P.S. A little tap with a small hammer and that screw comes right out. When you put it back in the nut on the bottom pulls it down and seats it back in place. Easy... It is the fin shank one in the picture:
