I love all the products I have used from Cliffy, and recently ordered the magnet protector he makes for Star Trek. I'm wondering if anyone else has used this protector extensively, b/c ideally I'd like to put them on my IM as well.....

They did not work on my xmen, both came off shortly after installing them.

I have them on ST and WOZ. So far, so good.

How do they attach? Is it just a press fit from the top?

I have it on my SM and my friend has it on his XM Pro and appear to be fine.

Peal and stick

Is it cleanly removable? I'd hate to have sticky stuff on the playfield.
I'm guessing the drop target protector is the same then?

They don't leave residue when they come off, and don't damage the clear. Clean area with rubbing alcohol, then apply. Sounds like some are having success, I didn't. It may be the heat from the magnets that affects adhesion as my rings started to warp and lift.

Same issue with the protector I had on Metallica sparky magnet. Warped and lifted. Went with some Mylar.

sorry to hear so many troubles. They seem fine on my own Metallica but I realize conditions can be different for everyone. Clean well around the mag poles to remove any wax and dirt, peel backing and stick down and rub down hard with a polishing cloth. The 3M adhesive is pressure activated and achieves full cure in 24 hours. Another suggested tip is to adjust the magnet pole upwards just slightly to match the height of the ring, only about .005" or the thickness of a couple pieces of paper. This should prevent the ball impacting the inner edges of the ring.

The single drop target protector is a clip on style like the majority of my protectors. It uses no adhesive.

You can see the magnet protectors on the Metallica page here:

Mine is also lifting on sparky magnet to. Think that the ball hits it so hard from above it bends a little upwards. Will have to remove it one of these days
