You can cut semi circular Mylar and stick it to the side of the cabinet and install the flipper buttons over it. Feels like the JJP clear coat and protects.

Go to office depot or staples and buy the self laminating sheets and use a pair of scissors, works!
I personally avoid any adhesive on the cabinet. Get static cling material, in sheets at your local art store. Cut to any outside shape. Use a washer of the proper diameter and an X-acto to make the button hole. Clean around the button to get finger oils off the cabinet and lay the protector on.
Been using them for years. Black material can hide wear, clear lets you see the art. You can make a couple per sheet, then make more for your other games and for friends.
