I'm restoring a TAF bookcase.
Before I put it back in my game I have to clean up the wood around the bookcase hole under the playfield. (see pictures)

What should I clean it with to get that old polishing and the black stuff away?

No one has any tips to what I should clean it with?

Wipe the old wax and crud off with a rag and some Naptha or Isopropyl alcohol.

You can do a very light sanding to get it very clean.

With a plastic razor blade you can start by scraping any built up gunk. Be careful how many liquids you use to clean go slow

Sanding is the only thing that's worked for me. If I was getting a playfield restored again i would seriously consider clear-coating under the pf.
