    I'd soak that in Evapo-Rust for several hours first.

    After evaporust, light wet/dry sand then clear coat.

    CLR will do wonders for that part, and quickly!

    I used evaporust and then removed most of the grunge/oxidation with a red Scotchbrite pad. Still looked pretty blotchy.

    I figured I'd try to paint it, here it is with Rustoleum Titanium Silver. A frame that has been treated with Evaporust and Scotchbrite below to compare.

    The paint worked well but the can dripped. Don't know if I got a bad can or this is typical, but need to wear a nitrile glove.

    I'll cover the posts on the bottom frame with heat shrink before I paint it.
