I just got my 64 Ship Mates playfield stripped down and the playfield posts are white, yellow and green. The rubber pretty much disintegrated into the posts. I used a flat end of a screw driver to cut and peel them off. What should I soak them in? Most of them might be trash. Does anyone have a parts playfield of this era with posts they would be willing to sacrifice. I can get a complete count/size and color needed. Is simple green okay for the posts? I am scared that the dye would come off. ??

I would just soak them overnight in warm soapy water (dish soap) and then scrub with a tooth brush. I did this for the posts on my 1958 woodrail. Worked great.

Gonna try that right now.

With the green, be careful of the dye leaching into the soapy water. I can tell you that simple green will damage the color as it happened to me.

Novus 1 and some water overnight is your best bet. Dish soap is also fine as suggested as long as it is a mild dish soap. You're only trying to loosen up the dried rubber.

I use Dawn all the time, never had any issues.
