Hey Pinside. I'm currently working on my next project, a Gottlieb Super Score. Just got done clearcoating the playfield (had mixed results) and now I"m off to work on the guts themselves.
I plan on going over and cleaning/de-rusting everything on both the bottom panel and backbox insert. However unlike every game I've worked on thus far it uses the 60s bronzed looking metal. I imagine that this is just a plating and not actual bronze/brass.
So with that in mind what's the best way to go about cleaning these? Will polishing with a power tool (dremel, buffer wheel, tumbler ect) take off the bronze coating? And if so is there want way to take off belmishes?
There's a lot of parts that are also rusted horribly, so I imagine de-rusting and painting are my only options for those?
I'm sure this has been asked before but searching didn't yield me anything.
