There is flakes coming off my wire ramps. Could I clean them back to a nice finish or do I have to get them re-chromed? I expect the flakes are the original chrome coming off.

Replated Brass (or chrome if you want). You could always powder coat them a hell of a lot cheaper in your choice of colors.

#6 11 years ago

It's Indy so powder coat might not work I don't know anything about this where could I get them dipped in some new chrome or brass

#7 11 years ago

Not sure what you mean? Wireforms can be powder coated on any game. Haven't come across one i couldn't powder. There are plenty of powder shops in australia. In fact one of the best powder makers comes from the land of upside down

#8 11 years ago

If you take them off you can polish them better.

#9 11 years ago

My roadshow is at my kids house so if I take them off I can't play

#10 11 years ago

what did you use to clean them? Anyone else feel free to chime in as well. I have yet to find a metal polish I really like and am satisfied with.

Used never dull you can find it in auto zone or pep boys

#12 11 years ago

try some very fine (000) fine steel wool it will clean up chrome good

man that's a sweat profile pic Turboderf

#14 11 years ago

Be careful with what you use. Chrome is much more forgiving than brass where never dull may take off the plating.

#15 11 years ago

Yeah I guess it depends on how your rails are

#16 11 years ago

Send them off to get them plated, there is no substitute for a proper plating job.

I like Mothers Mag polish and have used it for years. After that I follow w/a slightly dampened paper towel w/Windex on it and wipe to get the 'unseen'black residue off and then follow w/Carnuba wax. As turboderf mentioned for chrome #000 Steel wool...I use #0000. I use the steel wool first. Try different brands/items and then see what works best for you. Sure are tons-o-different products out there!
