Clay could put the guides back up in seconds, but he does not want to.

Clay could ask for and have all the pictures he needs to replace the ones he does not own in a day, but he does not want to put the guides back up.

    Quoted from 27dnast:

Did his make guides for Gottleib sys 3

    yes.

    Quoted from cody_chunn:

Can he just post them back up though? That is my question.

Of course he can, but he does not want to.

He has taken his toys and gone home.

    Quoted from Blackbeard:

So why don't the people who own the rights to the pictures consent?

Go back on RGP and see how the whole thing went down.

People had their true character exposed for all to see.

    Quoted from Blackbeard:

I can't work that medievel forum.
I'm guessing it all came down to the almighty buck.

More pride and feelings getting hurt, than money.

"Just to post a point a view from a contributer, I have to say that I was pretty pissed about it. I am a small contributer (just a few paragraphs in the pin2000 guide about the video amp), but it was my words exactly and pics in the guide. I didn't like something that I put out there to help everyone, now was just helping the PPE fill its coffers with cash. I sent both an email to clay and to the ppe's contact email (with no response yet). One PPE person did contact me after going back and forth in the newsgroups and in his email he said that the PPE was holding off on doing anything with the material until the matter was taken care of. Can't really ask for anything more than that right now. I know that if it does go through with the current plan I want my info removed from the guide. The sad thing is, I am sure clay built all those guides with free information that came from the internet.

    bummer,
    mickey"

    Quoted from asay:

That being said I think it's weird that someone would get so upset over a photos of pinball machine parts to harass someone into removing their entire website.

That's because it did not happen that way.

Clay took the website down to sell the information to raise money for PPM.

THAT'S when everyone got upset - when photos and text they gave to Clay for free distribution, was suddenly for sale without their permission.

    Quoted from Blackbeard:

We can argue all day about it.

Or we can just look at the law:

    "
Do I have to register with your office to be protected?

No. In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created.

    Quoted from Eddie:

If I post something on the internet for educational or entertainment purposes I do it to share info not for money or any other gains ( well maybe the feeling that I may have helped or made someone smile)

Now if someone decides to take the content of what I posted and makes money with it so what?

Let's say over the years I perfected Vid's Demonic BBQ Sauce. Hot but not too hot, super smokey, does not discolor your fingernails.

For a few years, I let you use my recipe. You are just cooking for for your pinball club, and your church's big BBQ dinner. I'm fine with that, glad that people are enjoying my work.

Then one day I notice at the grocery store that you have bottled and are selling Vid's Demonic BBQ Sauce!

    WTF???

You never asked my permission and I'm not OK with that.

    Charcoal or Propane?

    Wood lump charcoal.

    Quoted from Eddie:

If I give you a gift do as you please with it.

I see where you are coming from.

But most people who had a problem with the whole thing were not giving the info to Clay for Clay - they thought they were giving it to the entire world.

    #186 5 years ago

The whole disscussion is moot anyway.

Clay is never putting the guide up again.

You can buy an old DVD of it, you can download it, or you can read it on any of the non-USA websites that host it.

It's still completely out there for anyone who needs it.

There will always be a bunch of people who hate Clay.

And those people know how to push his buttons and get him fired up in about 2 seconds.

The guides are never coming back from Clay - ever.

Some of the overseas mirrors of the guides were posted by people now dead for over two years and obviously the guides don't even draw enough traffic to concern the web hosting company (let alone non-payment for years).

The torrents are being seeded by 11 people on one and 7 on the other - with no one at all currently downloading.

So even with this 6 page thread bringing lots of attention to the torrents, no one is downloading them.

I seriously hope the 1% of you here haven't spoiled this for the 99% of us that would really like to see this done.

It was NEVER going to happen anyway. Ever.
