Quoted from DRDAVE:

This just in. It's official. The top 3 Classic Sterns are Quicksilver, Star Gazer and Nineball. =)
Most of us hard core Stern fanatics have acquired ours years ago. Now get out there and find them!
Dave (Doc)

Yea the 3 I have in my game room restored to perfection Oh along with Gamatron...Slink..

Dragon fist is an awesome piece. Along with Galaxy, Stingray, Catacomb, etc. , etc....Can't really go wrong with any of them.

Quoted from Redketchup:

My iron maiden is real fun, a lot of strategy going on this game and a lot to do

I'm curious on this one since I never even seen one!

Where would you rank on the list?

There's one at Logan's arcade in Chicago if that's not too far a drive

we have both viper and iron maiden at the ann arbor pinball museum. and just about all the other m200 classic sterns mentioned in this thead, except dragonfist. can't find that one.

#56 9 years ago

I'll have to pay a visit to both locations!

Quoted from Classic_Stern:

Yea when you own a Quicksilver with no spinners...Yea it should be number 7....SLAP!!!

Quoted from PappyBoyington:

It wasn't worth putting spinners on.

You haven't played mine, Pappy

Quicksilver - when setup screaming fast with good spinners
Star Gazer - with 09 roms
Nine Ball
Catacomb - with background sounds off

Not on the list:
Meteor - set to about 7 degrees
Seawitch - with the new Greatwich repro playfield
I would put these ahead of Nine Ball above

Where is F2K ??
In order:
Flight 2000 best Classic Stern ever in my book !!
Catacomb fantastic rules, hard to master
Star Gazer fun to play and lot better with roms V9, very collectible and very nice artwork
Quicksilver fun to play, love those electronics weird sound effects
Freefall great soundtrack and great rules
Nine Ball amazing background sound effect !!!
Big Game great rules, hard to master
Cheetah not so nice artwork, fun to play

I owe 5 classic stern (F2k, big game, quicksilver, catacomb and iron maiden) i had a seawitch and i'm in the process of made a Stargazer from scratch.

First she's beautifull! Probably the best one. There is a lot of cool rule like the sequence drop target that give you and extra ball or a special. The skill shot for locking for the multiball and the drop target to give you extra time after the third ball.

It's probably the best pinball with a upper playfield that i played.

Catacomb is my favorite stern, follow by stargazer and F2K.

I think iron maiden is really cool in a big collection, she is not easy and you need to understand the rule to really appraciated. Most of the time she's a drain monster.

Yes I have I played it at the TPF last year. It's a great game, I just like to give the Mayor a hard time.

#62 9 years ago

Oh gotcha....the Mayor....LOL. You bringing one of yours this year?

No, never bringing my gazer down the stairs again. Nineball and Orbitor 1 need work and my Seawitch is at a buddy's house. Bringing a totally restored Playboy 35th though. Very underrated game.

You should put Lectronamo on that list, great playing game, beautiful to look at and rare. First Stern with sound and the mirrored backglass is awesome to see in person. There is one for sale at the moment, Craigs or Epay or Mr. Pinball Classified, I think. DSCN1650 - Copy.JPGDSCN1650 - Copy.JPG

Wow nice job on the lighting! The blue displays look really good in SG. I wanted to get some yellow ones for QS, and I swore they made them at one time, but alas, no more. I'll be sure to give your P35 a few plays.

Quoted from sk8ball:

This is true. At least the home rom offers 2x & 4x scoring. 9B is probably my least played classic Stern though I do like the design

Does anyone know if this rom is available in sizes that fit the original chips, or is only the 256k rom version out?

Big Game
Seawitch
Nine Ball

Are my top 3.

Have not played: Quicksilver, Dragonfist, Cheetah, Ali

Have played: Flight 2000, Star Gazer, Iron Maiden, Catacomb, Meteor, Stars, Galaxy

#72 6 years ago

Some I need to play more:
DragonFist
Cheetah with new rom
Gamatron (I have pop. PF and sound board)

I like Split Second but damn, it’s all over the place.

I never mentioned it in the thread but my favorite Stern is Ali. Not because it’s the best Stern but because it was made by Harry Williams and it has a good layout. I think it is the best game that he designed and I don’t see it very often. I would say my 2nd favorite Stern is Big Game.
