Or ... What if P3 worked with Stern to create "classic" kits for the P3 system. Classic Sterns used standard playfield parts for the most part. So have P3 use a master board, ala the Altek Board system, that houses all Classic Stern games code and then sell kits to build classic Stern games with the P3 system.
