I may be able to help with that. I’ll have to get in touch with CPR when I can get some good pics for them to review.

They're out! My goal of building one is another step closer to reality.

I know what you mean, but I’m committed. Already got a bgresto glass and 95% of everything else ready to go. The hardest parts will be the cabinet (see below for my donor lol) and the wiring harness.

Yikes! I had a couple pinhole bubbles in my clear but not anything close to that. After comparing all of the pics posted and my own, I think all of them have that funky insert double-printing, unfortunately. Yours looks possibly worse than mine but could also be your photos are a touch blurred.

#348 3 years ago

Looking forward to those Dragonfist pfs to drop cottonm4

On the topic of Cheetah, could an owner please post measurements of the rails and metal ball guides? I have rough estimates from laying out a tailor’s measure tape on the pf but would be great to have a more accurate representation.

Looking forward to your restore and hope you don’t mind me asking a bunch of questions when I get around to my scratch build HoakyPoaky

Frankly I'm surprised they didn't fix this...

Same double-print error is on the first run.

Still, I'm more than happy these have been made in the first place.

Coincidentally just opened a tab to print some labels for my Star Gazer build. Here you go: https://pinballrebel.com/pinball/cards/

Or even more direct...

Trident has 5 memory coils. Cheetah has/needs 4.

Personally I think both original color schemes are weak. I kinda want to do custom colors when I build mine. I have no photoshop skills, but some super crummy tests using a photo of someone else's game...

Would an owner mind posting some photos of their wiring pinouts? I'm starting to get things going on my scratch build and the original playfield harness I got is decently hacked up. Of course SEI's schematics have their flaws too, so even just starting to re-pin the harness I've had a few headscratchers.

For example, the schematics say the "ball kicker" coil uses a red-white wire, but my connector seems to be pinned with a white-black. Scouring through photos, it looks like @tractordoc's may also have a white-black coil return wire?

I think slochar has mentioned wanting to clean up these manuals. Does anyone have a list of errors for Cheetah?

And just an example of what needs to be cleaned up...

Currently I’m only making best judgments on where the connector > wires are going. I haven’t started laying out the pf yet.

Thanks cottonm4 -- I look forward to you getting that project off the ground too. We may be ships in the night on our current projects as after I do Cheetah, I'm going to do Nine Ball. I think I have the connectors figured out (at least theoretically until I get to laying it out on the playfield, which likely won't happen until December because of a long vacation to Australia coming up in about 10 days!

Per the manual they should all 3 be J-25-475/34-4500*

*Technically the manual says "J-25-475/34-3400" but since SEI manual were prone to error (that's not a coil that exists, to my knowledge), I'm going off Inkochnito's tech chart: http://www.pinballrebel.com/pinball/cards/Tech_Charts/Stern_Cheetah_Tech_Chart.pdf

That doesn’t look like a CPR playfield to me.

Looking good. The back rail shouldn’t go across the entire top of the playfield though. The posts behind the drops won’t fit. Can’t find a better pic off hand…

It would probably increase the chance for the ball to get hung up behind the drops or something, especially since you’re using the tombstones? Reduce bounceback action from the pops? Heck if I know but I assume they made it that way for a reason.

Regardless you need to make room for the one-way gate too. Easy enough to cut it down and reinstall, right?

Got the base down on my F2K > Cheetah cab (technically cabs, plural. The head and body were scavenged separately). I chickened out on custom painting it pink even though I think it’d look good and better suit the rest of the Cheetah artwork, particularly the backglass. But I have one of the blue insert repro pfs, so let’s keep it stock.

The left rail has 5 nail points on the original spaced 2-7/8” apart from each other. I had an original bent up one that djblouw and I just compared to update his rail files in the last couple weeks. (Thanks again Daane!)

#568 1 year ago

Yes, his original files didn’t have the holes included but Daane was awesome to work with me on making some adjustments on the upper right rail and I let him know about the rail holes. You can drill holes like I did on this one, just make sure you use cutting oil because these rails are quality steel!

Here’s a video I took in slow motion of the drop target action.

#594 1 year ago

Mine is oriented in the way it was when I bought it 10+ years ago. It also matches the Nine Ball mech that was linked in the other thread. cottonm4 I think yours is in the wrong spot…

I have a Cheetah harness that hasn't been installed / tested since I received it but looks like the red/white runs to A5J3 Pin 4, which also doesn't appear to be listed as used in the manual. Maybe defer to someone with a working Cheetah but I assume that's it.

edit: whoops, didn't see the next page when I went looking at my harness!

Not my pic but I added the wire locations.

I’m trying to scratch build my Cheetah using an original (but semi-hacked up and tangled) harness and just trying to figure out the paths the harness should take. Can’t find any pics of an original harness mounted? I’ve had this playfield sitting up in work mode for WAY too long. Actually finished two other swaps in the time I’ve had it up.

Quoted from hisokajp:

I am in the middle of doing a PF swap so i have a whole folder of tear down pictures if that is helpful:
