Quoted from tyking:

Here is the face of my door. I am thinking it is in good enough shape where i can clean and polish it up to get it looking new, without having to totally sand it down and repaint it with something like the hammered silver. If so, what’s the best way to clean and polish. I’m a total newbie and have no idea what I’m doing, and am likely to make something worse. For example, my first inclination to start would be a scotchbrite pad and mean green, but I’m thinking that might be too abrasive.

After successfully derusting several sets of original Stern legs, I'd bet you could lay that coindoor and frame in an Evaporust bath and it'll be rust free in about 12 hours. Since your Stern decal is already gone, no harm in trying and you could avoid a full repaint.

Quoted from cottonm4:

At risk of sounding like a fool, where is the hole that needs repair?

This poster is not the one who asked about a hole in the door. It was a different user who has not posted a pic of the door yet.
