Any suggestions regarding the best ways to clean up old classic bally cashboxes from the late seventies/early eighties? I've got several boxes, all with surface rust and staining. Paint, powdercoat, etc. ?

I cleaned, then sanded off the loose rust, and then sprayed it withVarthane just to see how that took. It actually went well, but I have to take the box out to collect coins. No slope starts to hurt under the fingernails.

Tough to keep them from rusting. I used Evaporust to clean one up - worked great. Then I used Rust Prevention Magic but it still started to rust again after several months.

Steel wool or evaporust, polish, then wax.
