That's the perfect place for a tspp
Quoted from goatdan:If you know things that you know about this, I'd suggest keeping *very* quiet about it.
Why?
Their policy is clearly varied from location to location. I know there was some local "hush-hush" about selling CEC games here, when they were supposed to be exported (or something like that, I don't keep up with the soap opera that is pinball sometimes), but I know that the seller I have been dealing with actually buys ALL of CEC old inventory (pins included) and is green lighted to sell them in the US.
I have bought all of the complete machines he had for sale, but then he also has a lot of parts machines that CEC would salvage (as another forum member described as a practice), so the last couple of machines he has are parts machines, but salvageable. I should know more in January when he gets to them, but for the most part, I expect them to be missing boards, major assemblies, etc.
There are some good titles and bad titles, but I have to take them all to make it worth my time, so I am cautiously optimistic. Based on the labor I just put into the POTC I recently got, it is going to be very time consuming and very expensive (Stern parts are just stupidly expensive).
Tell the manager the next time there's a run to the dump planned. Offer him $50.
Another $50 to the driver and you're probably good to go.
The truth is you can get sued for absolutely anything if you have an attorney who is willing to take your case. The person doing the suing may not even win or have a good case. The corporations don't even want to take the time to fight the case even though they know that legally they will win. They usually just settle because it is cheaper in the long run.
It's the sad state of the legal system we have in the U.S.
Quoted from TOK:I would have if it looked recent. It has probably been about 4 months since I've been in there.
There were other older games missing too... They had a Jurassic Park sit down shooter with a moving seat that my kid loved. There were also a couple of older driving games gone. Actually, one was a Nascar game that probably wasn't that old.
Its almost like a kiddie casino now, all redemption and coin pushers. I think the oldest machine left in there was Guitar Hero Arcade. Pretty sad.
I hate the degradation of arcades into kiddie casino's. Funny how people (not just the kids) get all worked up about getting the tickets and then hand over a thousand tickets for a few pennies worth of Chinese plastic junk that probably gets thrown away in a couple weeks.
Quoted from SaminVA:I once went around back of my local CC and the dumpster was full and all around it was pieces of smashed up Skee Balls so yes they smash everything.
Weird.
funny but my second pin (this time around) was a WPT from a CEC in N. Carolina. Evidently the "owner" or manager had passed away and a friend was selling the arcade games from the store, or so i am told. The guy I bought it from was very nice and walked me thru testing, as I was a newbie (still am i guess!) and helped me get the ace in the hole to work (as well as DON from NJ!). We have spoken many times since then and he has helped me trouble shoot other machines as well. point is he is a very nice guy. and the machine, other than the AITH, was in really good shape. a good shop job, LED's galore from PLife , and the machine is cherry. just my chuck e cheese story. lol
