I'm on the brink of diving into my first cabinet restore/stencil on an early solid-state Bally. I'm curious how y'all achieve the mirrored finish on cabinet parts, specifically side rails, lockdown bar, coin door/trim, etc. I see pinballplating.com sells some of these parts off-the-shelf, but they're pricey. I'm willing to put forth the effort to achieve these results myself, with the right tools/equipment, but unsure what I'd need. Ideas MOST welcomed. And as always, many thanks!

    Quoted from BR80:

If you use a local plating company, you can buy 'raw' pieces from pinaball life.

BR80 Thanks for the feedback. I’m definitely not going to plan on salvaging the side rails, so I’ll for sure replace those, but would there be any reason I couldn’t just use the existing lockdown bar, coin door/trim, and the playfield glass lock-channel at the far end of the playfield??

Now ya got me researching buffing wheels to find the equipment that best suits my needs. YouTube has been an unexpected gold mine helping me maintain my five games, and I’m seeing LOTS of metal buffing basic tutorials to immerse myself in.

Mirror polishing is a very time consuming process.
Dirty, and can be dangerous, so be prepared with safety tools (dust mask, face/eye protector). I use gloves too (for some it's sounds unsafe), the metal is really hot during the process).

    Awesome thread, thanks.....bookmarked!
