Per Pinside's posting rules: This is not a religious discussion or comparing/discussioning beliefs.

I believe there are fellow Christian pinballers and would like to start a Christian Pinball FB group, or similar. Please reach out if you're interested in finding out more.
    Thanks!

    Are you sure?

Do you as a Christian pinballer ever struggle with the artwork or theme of certain titles? If so how do you overcome this?

    #4 2 years ago

Great question! Let's take the discussion off of pinsides site to respect their rules.

I'm trying to determine interest in a FB group to discuss topics just like that among others.

    Thanks!

The following FB link for the group is:

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/713650426387010/?ref=share

I'm not a big FB fan but I really want to respect pinside and all the great topics.
    Thanks

You don't have to buy, play, or watch every game just like you don't have to watch every movie that comes out. I'm sure there are some games my wife would absolutely not be OK with having in the house... But she doesn't tell me not to play pinball. I just know there aren't going to be any Elvira or Whoa Nellie machines at home.

Kinda of odd ... if and big if God gave Elvira large boobs , should we not appreciate his work ?

It would be nice to talk common sense but nobody listens anyway….

The vary name of your topic makes this a religious thread….why don’t you make the topic a Family Friendly pinball discussion…A safe place for FAMILY fun. Make the rules simple….let’s talk about pinball and family..no talk of smoking, drinking, and let’s keep it G rated for everyone. Leave the religion part out of it and you will find more like minded people.

What about a classic like Gorgar? I’d suspect that would be a tough sell. Can you play but not own?

My pastor loves The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings I’d argue what is the difference?

Maybe Jesus could lend us some guidance on the morality of nudging. Would He tilt the machine? Is nudging a venial sin, while tilting a mortal sin? Well now I'm confused because we all know he pretty much invented the Death Save move....

Yeah, it's why I don't have an IMDN game. For other stuff like Elvira, I'd absolutely own one but had reservations about the artwork and the fact that my 7 yo plays all our games and we have his friends over. It's got kind of a PG ish them/art, but it is what it is.

Pinball has officially jumped the popularity shark, if you like pinball and are a believer join us. That is a new recruitment avenue I had not seen before.

I don't think any of these things change a thing about being a Christian. If, you do, that is your issue. Maybe this thread "is" getting out of place.
I had Elvira, Devil's Dare, BSD, ect ect..so what.

I wonder if the J-man would have to pay for games on location or would he just turn some bar snacks into tokens?

30 years ago I could have said that parents play a role in filtering what their kids see and have some kind of control on age appropriate control especially when the guy at my local sex shop was kicking us out everytime we tried to sneak it

But that ship has long sailed since then, as a parent I teach my kids how to choose what they want to see, how to make sure they dont get into what they dont want to see and how what gets in their brain never comes out of it.

Sounds cool! But no Facebook for me. Good luck with the group!

I hear you. As my kids are 7 and 4, we're still in that zone where the content they consume is curated by us.

It is extremely difficult to guard your kids from being exposed to things these days. Ultimately you have to teach them to be make good decisions, but when they're too young to know the difference, you really need to be on top of it. The days of letting our kids watch just any kids movie that comes out are over. You cannot trust any brand or company anymore.

    Ahh, separatism at its best!

Not if they go to daycare or public school. They are getting inundated daily by garbage. It’s pretty sad.
It’s all about creating the compulsive consumers of tomorrow.

Need a pinball version of this:
