Which one is the most satisfying to play? Most balanced? Best rules? Longest lasting in a collection?

#2 6 years ago

Never played arena, but the other three are fantastic games, and they are all still affordable

#3 6 years ago

Arena very unbalanced. Love hollywood heat's cheesyness but have to go with Genesis. Very nice rules set, satisfying shots and one of best sounding machines I owned.

Don't really think Genesis is really cheese, then robo-war and tx-sector can be up there aswell. Like TX a lot too

Genesis if such a damn grinder...I mean mega grind and for the "heavy flow" people this has to be their worst enemy....but cranking the Multiball Multiplier up in the 40x area is always a great time

don't google heavy flow

Ha...believe me I chose my wording for that group correctly.

Own Genesis ... but still having funny feelings for a Hardbody.

#8 6 years ago

I only know well two of these games; all I can say is Genesis >> Arena.

With an alternative translite, Genesis can even become attractive!

#9 6 years ago

Have my hands on a Hardbody and enjoy playing it regularly. Guests enjoy the cheese factor but are drawn in by the balanced upper playfield and the flex save feature.

Alternate translite is blasphemy! You can;t "Choose your cheese" as the title implies if you're trying to dress up this machine like it Metropolis IMO.

Genesis all the way!

It sure makes the game look a lot better, though...

Hardbody is a legit fun game with good shots and an entertaining soundtrack - the translite is cheesy but overall it's a good package.

It is because this game became "Metropolis" (FANTASTIC MOVIE!!!) that I voted for it above the others. I don't think the others are redeemable with just a trans-lite change like Genesis is...

I remember someone doing a re-theme for Hollywood Heat into Grand Theft Auto.

Wasn't it used as the base for Goonies too?

Someone should do a proper real retheme of Genesis->Metropolis. Even if it's the anime.

The Goonies re theme also started as Hollywood Heat

15 seconds too late, HA!

Beat me by 7 seconds.......

Genesis by a mile! Buy the nicest one you can find with alt translite and LEDs and enjoy playing it regularly!
I've tried so hard to like Hollywood Heat and I can barely stand playing it. Even an alt translight can't help.
BUT if you're looking for the BIG cheese-- gotta be Bad Girls for the win artistically, stylistically, and musically.

I had to do a double take at forum Title.
When i read the title my mind went strait to Raven.
Raven has some great shots to.

No, it doesn't. It makes it looks like someone is taking the game too seriously. It also looks like you're trying to hide the fact you have a cheeseball game...which of course is the whole fun of the game.

I thought about including that, but didn't want to list even more Gottliebs. Probably should've swapped it in for Arena. I thought that game would get more love. Feel free to write-in vote for Raven! A lot of love for Genesis--but it looks like it's a lot of chopping wood for a robot reveal, then do it all over again? Cool concept, I like the 16-bit video game era music, but I think I gotta finally cast my vote for...Hardbody.

Maybe, but it's still challenging to achieve and it has an interesting theme compared to the other games released around that time.

Hardbody is the winner for me. The split playfield makes all shots super fast, plus nearly every shot is incorporated into the gameplay. I especially love the in-line drop targets and under ramps loop.

A late reply, but best cheeses need to be afined, isn't it ?
But for sure, there is some loveable models and some, that are a bit Strange

While I'm not fan of SYSTEM 80B, the only one that I like is :

GENESIS !

I own an Arena and like it alot, and pretty soon im going to own a Genesis aswell (hammering out a trade deal with a guy) so i get "best of both worlds" i guess

#28 6 years ago

Gold Wings could be in that lineup too.

#29 6 years ago

I currently own Genesis, Arena, Victory and Big House. LEDs in all of them. Genesis is clearly the best out of the 4 given to choose from IMO. Im getting ready to put my Arena up for sale or trade, Genesis isn't going anywhere.
