How about KiloWatts & Vanek?
Not just one of my favorite "bands" but also quite an interesting story behind this music.
Vanek is a classic singer/songwriter from Belgium who writes melancholic songs and performs them only with his guitar. You get the idea, a lonely man with a guitar on a bar stool playing melancholic songs.
KiloWatts is from Philadelphia and known for experimantal electronic music he calls "electronic glitch music".
KiloWatts found some songs from Vanek posted on a music forum. He contacted Vanek and asked if he may try to place his electronic sounds on top of Vaneks melodies and vocals. They started sending files back and forth, tweaking them further and further. Eventually a german record label noticed their postings and made an album (Rawq) out of the songs. When KiloWatts and Vanek were invited to Germany for a record presentation they met for the first time in person - and hated each other. No promotion took place as they were not willing to share a stage.
Funny enough many years later they made a second album (Focus & Flow), again based completely on communicating through the internet. It didn't reach the impact of the first one, but it's still nice.

I also like the Bossa & Stones album. The whole "Bossa n' X" concept is fun.
