I like to chill and chill music. Might be the only person who listens to this junk
A lot of it is a blend of trance, ambient & jazz. A touch of spanish tempo.
Any other recommendations?

Get some 'Lemon Jelly' into your iPod or whatever you use..

The "Will Sessions" are pretty great. My wife and I saw them live in Detroit at a jazz club called "Cliff Bells". Great band. Check them out below. The opening track is great.

Cliff Bells is pretty amazing too if you want to hear live jazz in Detroit and want to have some good food.

One of my favorites when I'm in this kind of mood is Sunlounger (aka Roger Shah). VERY chill stuff.

Looks like someone's uploaded one of his albums in its entirety.

I listen to tons of this stuff.

There is a lot of great stuff released in the 90s on Instinct Records. The compilations called 'Chillout' and Chillout Phase Two' come to mind. Deep Space Network, Omicron, Air Liquide, Sun Electric.

Can't get much better than Aphex Twin's 'Selected Ambient Woks Vol 2'. The Orb is another favorite of mine, I think 'Orbus Terrarum' is their best but it's pretty out there..

Anything by Pete Namlook, SETI, Human Mesh Dance. The Slumberland compilation series.

I can go on and on..

Some stuff you might not have heard of

First is "Alernate Thursday" from the Sound in Color "Mu.SIC." compilation

Next two are Ricci Rucker and Mike Boo off the album Sketchbook which was created 100% from turntable manipulation (i.e. "scratch music")

Fourth one is Mike Boo "Cantrec" (more scratch music).

Last one is DJ Excess "Lally" (more scratch music)

William Orbit : Water From a Vine Leaf

(happy chill w/ good vid too)

I discovered these guys years ago while touring the Netherlands.

Their songs have a mixture of everything.

How about KiloWatts & Vanek?

Not just one of my favorite "bands" but also quite an interesting story behind this music.
Vanek is a classic singer/songwriter from Belgium who writes melancholic songs and performs them only with his guitar. You get the idea, a lonely man with a guitar on a bar stool playing melancholic songs.
KiloWatts is from Philadelphia and known for experimantal electronic music he calls "electronic glitch music".

KiloWatts found some songs from Vanek posted on a music forum. He contacted Vanek and asked if he may try to place his electronic sounds on top of Vaneks melodies and vocals. They started sending files back and forth, tweaking them further and further. Eventually a german record label noticed their postings and made an album (Rawq) out of the songs. When KiloWatts and Vanek were invited to Germany for a record presentation they met for the first time in person - and hated each other. No promotion took place as they were not willing to share a stage.

Funny enough many years later they made a second album (Focus & Flow), again based completely on communicating through the internet. It didn't reach the impact of the first one, but it's still nice.

I also like the Bossa & Stones album. The whole "Bossa n' X" concept is fun.

Shameless self plug: I'm a chillout/downtempo artist. I actually release mellow stuff as "Joey Fehrenbach" and the more club/dance stuff as "Dream Traveler."

Boards of Canada changed my life. Love the clicking/loading of the slide projector as the percussive element in Kid for Today. Genius. If they taught me anything, it is that less is more, and sometimes just a dial tweak away is THAT sound... The one that reminds of you of that fuzzy memory sitting in your living room watching cartoons with your family, running around on that horrible late 70's brown rug that has a TV sitting on it that is actually part furniture.
