Quoted from kklank:

I took a look at it. She had it priced at 2500 and when I got out there she said she had so much interest from other buyers that she wanted more than her asking price. Some dickhead from Minnesota said he would give her 3300 without even looking at it! There was wear on the Sanctum, a chunk taken out of the front of the cab, some dings on the backbox, and no keys to get into the pin! The rest of the playfield was nice. I said I would give her 2500 which was her asking price. She said she wanted to meet with another buyer and for me to wait and see what happened with the other buyer. I said I would pass. When I walked out there was another buyer(I think) waiting in the driveway. Just ridiculous. Glad I didnt buy it. Could have been more problems inside. Who knows right?

I'm the other buyer that she was waiting for and i did indeed pick up the Shadow, though i don't think i was the person you saw in the driveway. You are correct, the situation was ridiculous. She wanted us to offer more than $2500, and when i didn't, she told us that the guy who was just there offered $2600 (I honestly didn't believe her story at all, and I shook my head when i read that you offered $2500). In any case, I offered all my cash on hand which turned out to be $2625, contingent upon her finding the keys. She did eventually find the keys to the coin box but we never found the keys to the backbox, which was a shame because the backbox was bolted down to the main cab, and there was a lot of MacGuyvering that went into getting it folded down. All in all i think it took my buddy and i about 2 hours from the time we got there to get it out. Aside from some slight wear on the sanctum, corrosion on the brass plated wire ramps, and the cabinet dings, it's in great shape.

Side note, while we were there, i looked up the listing to remember what her name was and saw that she had re-posted the pin at $2900. If what she said about the guy from MN is true (who knows), I agree that he is a dickhead.

No hard feelings, i hope. Just thought you might enjoy hearing the rest of the story.

WTB: Williams Star Pool (1974). My bride had one briefly in her early 20's and is rather nostalgic.

Looking for a solid state Sinbad. would consider a project machine but preferably players or better. PM me!

#2125 3 years ago

Looking for a nice Black Hole. Was pretty indifferent about that machine until I played the crap out of it in Vegas. Anyhow, if you got one you're willing to part with, DM me!

I read this far an chuckled out loud. I'm so used to web porn ads popping up on sites. Sorry

I thought the same thing while writing it. It's hard to find a Black Hole without sounding like a creeper

I'm selling the one below at Rob Berk's new show in Chicago in August.

Bank a Ball is so damn fun. Do you have a buyer yet?

Quoted from Beatnik-Filmstar:

Chicago places to play question.
Heading down for a few days on Friday. Staying in a hotel within a few blocks of the Headquarters river north location and intend to stop by, but as far as I'm concerned - more is better.
Of the two Headquarters, two Emporiums, and Logan Arcade - any of them stand out above the others? Any other locations worth checking out? Using the trains and foot for travel - no car for what that's worth.

They all have merit - i wouldn't avoid any of them. Historically I have the most fun at Emporium, but Logan Arcade has the best collection IMO and their machines are very well maintained. If I had to pick only one location it would be Logan.

Need to hire someone in the area to install an overlay on a playfield and clear coat it. Everything is ready to go (including the $$$)

#3804 2 years ago
Quoted from gweempose:

I would recommend contacting @tatman9999

thanks, done!

#3808 2 years ago
Quoted from CaptainNeo:

I can do it. I've done lots of overlays for people.

PM'd, thanks!

Wish I had badbilly27's advice when I was starting. I would only add that you will absolutely need to plan on making some repairs yourself (unless you're made of money). Stuff breaks a lot, but even it it doesnt and you're playing a lot you'll probably want to improve the machine and do routine maintenance.

Definitely go play some games and find one you like. Have fun!

I have a friend who's looking to get this old Pachinko machine working again. Anybody know local techs who do this kind of thing? DM or reply with details. My understanding is the problem is no lights, no bells - otherwise working. I have not seen it in person.

Quoted from AlexF:

The glass looks promising. Usually they reds are badly faded. Anyway $350 used to be about right for an unshopped EM. These days it's challenging to find anything worthwhile under $500. link

I offered $250 if it had legs, $225 if it didn't. Didn't hear back!

Not technically the loop?

Yeah, just out of the loop by a block or two, but it's certainly closer than anything else, and right at the Merchandise Mart brown line stop. I can't wait for the arcade to open!

I've got 2 System 11s that need repair and i haven't been able to make the time in the last 6 months so i'm looking to pay someone.

Some of GI is out. This one is probably super straightforward. Did work after my 2017 restoration.
Insert lighting is all out. Did work after my 2017 resto.

Big Guns:
Left kicker won't work. This one is more complicated and will undoubtedly require board work. I've never had this working even after restoring the rest of the machine.

Any recommendations are much appreciated!

Call Rich Huff, he is in Oak Park. 700 Wesley. 312 925 1386

Thanks, i've had rich out a couple of times before. He's been great but he sends out most electrical/board work and that's not what i'm looking for.

Guess ill just need to be patient or get lucky, or figure out whats pretty fun for 4-600 bucks.

Plenty of other EMs that are really fun and way less pricey. Find somewhere that you can play a wide variety of EMs and you'll find some that you love.

Interested in the big guns, do you know the height by chance? My basement is 80 inches high, not sure if it will fit :/

I'll measure it tonight.

#6193 7 months ago
Quoted from Schamattack:

It measures 83-85" , I found this information on a related topic. Wont fit for me. bummer.

Sorry i didn't get to it sooner. You'd definitely want 85 inches for this.

Big guns and Spanish Eyes are sold and gone, for all who were asking.

I heard the Galloping Ghost now has a pinball area, but I haven't seen it yet.

Don't go to Galloping Ghost for the pins, you'll be disappointed. Go for the arcades, though!
