I was in on that Barracora but the price went from $400 to $900 & I suddenly became less excited about it. Nice lady, though. I'm glad it went to someone who really wanted it & not to some jag like myself who will buy anything for $400.

According to the girl there were like 35 people in for $400... It was giving to that girls dad in exchange for work done on house of a friend.. Just sitting there gathering dust... Preventing here from parking in garage... She listed on CL without telling her dad... Lol... Money talks

In case anyone is interested, there is an estate sale in Glencoe this weekend. Looks like they have a couple pins, an EM gun game, and an EM shuffle bowler ...

How do estate sales work exactly? I imagine it being like black friday...lined up with the scum of the earth but paying eBay prices.

Picked up a stern dracula at an estate sale last weekend mostly people looking to buy 5 dollar items that they can sell on ebay for 10. Not a lot of interest in the pins that were priced at 1000 and 750. I ended up leaving an offer of 350 for the dracula and they took it

#1714 3 years ago

So you can buy outright at asking price or leave a bid? Sounds like you got a good deal.

Yea, kind of, I have only been to one, and that is because it was literally right across the street from my house and a friend asked me to go and get something. You have to get there early, some will give out numbers and they only let in so many people at a time, first come first served, and I don't think they haggle to much on price, it is usually as marked. But, you can get some great deals, but you have to have cash in hand and a way to get it out of there before the sale ends. They will put a "sold" tag on things for you to come back later with a bigger vehicle if necessary.

Again, take that all with a grain of salt as I have only done one!

I've been to a couple of them. It's best to call the company doing the estate tag sale and find out when they're passing out numbers. Sometimes, they pass them out the night before. They may also let in relatives (of whose estate it is) before the numbered people as they did in one sale I went to. I was about the 35th person to go in (groups of about 8 people at a time) and luckily no-one had wanted the pinball machine so I grabbed the tag, took it up front, and paid what they we're asking (reasonable). They gave me a sold tag to put on the pin while I moved my truck around to load. When you first go in, ask the girl that takes your tag where the item is located you want to buy so you can go right to it. And, be there an hour early because I've heard some say they don't necessarily start the sale at the advertised time - just when they're ready.

A lot of these companies know prices somewhat and will put a higher price on it for the 1st day and the 2nd and 3rd day it may come down 25% - 50% off. Some just leave an offer they want to pay and take a chance it will get to them.

#1717 3 years ago

It probably depends on the sellers but most that I have been to are willing to deal on the last day in fact it's common for everything to be half off. That was the case with the one last week but only on items less than $500 I took a gamble and left an offer and it payed off. There are people that buy every thing that doesnt sell for pennies on the dollar after the sale. Generally these sales are set up to sell everything so the property can be sold. It is the stuff that none of the family members wanted after all.

#1718 3 years ago

Oh yeah on day 2 I got there 10 mins after the start time waited around a hour to get in I was number 99 on the list

#1719 3 years ago

$1300 for Wizard. Over a grand for Blue Ribbon. And $1500 for the gun game. All marked sold (from Friday).
Oh , and $800 for the puck bowler .

I'm assuming package deal priced.. but I'm guessing still way over priced.

You'll probably be moving your BSD soon, having two Draculas in the house has to be against code there. Aren't you out of room anyway?

Don't do it. I had a sample Diamond Plate one from 1991 to 2012 sold at auction to Snapper in South Carolina. 6 months later I really missed it. One of only a few sold that I really wanted back, seeing restoration threads, pics of others and the chance to finally get the one that Grover Gibson drive me to pay a premium for a great all original ecample with only minor mods. Please don't.

I'll make the decision whether or not I'm ready to part with mine (IJ) within the next couple of weeks. It's a restored sample game with metal side rails on the POA, factory installed jackpot lights in the backbox and lost plastic, no buy-in button, etc. It will be expensive but the thing is beautiful.
