Hey Izzy, that's the first time I have opened up the playfield on the Top ten & looked inside. Is that an early optical switch on the spinning record wheel thing? &- does it have something to do with the two odd plastic cased relays on the bottom of the playfield?

It is the photo eye sensor and there are 2 SS relays that operate it located on the front end of the underside of the Playfield on one side.

The transition from EM to SS has begun! Boooooooo!!

yup, just like ken said. works pretty well.

Cool. Looks pretty straightforward under the hood other than that.

Playfield on that "Top Ten" is thrashed as usual.

Ken

Actually it looks almost decent compared to mine

I guess what I was getting at was that to date I have never seen a "Top Ten" without some degree of heavy wear on the Playfield whether it is on ebay, craigslist, or anywhere and I have seen about 8 different machines in the past 2 years.

I mean didn't anyone want to apply some wax and change out the Ball at least once in a while? Geeezzzz!

Just saw your collection of EM's jcg9998 and must say it is a very nice and varied collection you have. Some I have not even heard of much less seen in person.

Follow up pictures.

Legs and Coin Door will be repainted at a later date to the original darker grey that was used by CC rather than the smoke grey found on the mid-70's models.

Enjoy!

Beautiful Casino Ken! To follow up an earlier post I made here, it turns out I'm not going to be leaving the CCC after all, Casino has grown on me too much! I'm going to make an effort to fully restore it, I'd really like to bring it to the Michigan Pinball Expo after its finished to "share" it, but I can tell you what it will never be doing, leaving my collection!

#123 10 years ago
Quoted from Gangplank:

Beautiful Casino Ken!

Thanks Gangplank!

My wife's favorite pin out of any pin I own now or in the past so if I sell it I will be a very lonely man.

It is the only CC pin I will ever keep in my collection because it is just that fun. May think about a CC Twin Rifle Gun Game for the collection down the road too.

Ken

#124 10 years ago

We have two! A Cinema and a Sound Stage - I like them a lot more than I ever expected to. One day they'll get the full restore they so deserve.

#125 10 years ago

I can't wait to play your Casino when you move to San Antonio later this year.

#126 10 years ago
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:

It amazes me how such a simplistic game as Casino can be yet so much fun and be such a "Just 1 more game" kind of pin when I have so many other pins with much better Rulesets and I keep coming back to this one

Casino had to be a big money maker on location. Wish this one was in our high school back in the day instead of a Bally Bow & Arrow, but then again my lunch money would have been gone every day between that and the Gottlieb Target Alpha we had.

Hurray! The search is over I got one! 1947 Chicago Coin Basketball Champ. I picked one up an hour away at a great price last week. That's the good news. The bad news is it needs a lot of love. Most specifically it is missing the head and curved glass. If I could at least find an original light board I think I could make one. It also must have had a rotten bottom at some point because the cab had been cut down and the guys 85 year old father had built a stand for it. Not ideal but I'm in the door at least. Finding an affordable example seemed unlikely so I guess the condition actually may have helped really. The other good news is it plays and my grandson loves it. When I get it cleaned up a bit I'll have to post a pic.

Congrats!!! Neat looking game! Would love if they would've made a hockey version like this!!!

I just picked up a CC Top Hat Ball bowler. If anyone happens to have one and wouldn't mind sending me a few specific pictures to help me out please PM me!

Thanks! They did make a Hockey version. You have it already. Well not identical but same beautiful cabinet style, great graphics and mannequin players.

I have one of these that is partially restored, maybe this Summer I'll wrap it up...

#135 9 years ago

Yeah, it has to be fairly rare. I've only found pics of one other online. Here is a pic of when I got it.

It's missing the glass but I redrew the art. Another great Pinside member. Saint Pafasa I call him, was kind enough to make me a decal for the glass.

Sorry for getting off topic.

Criss Cross Hockey is pretty cool. For a neat later game I like the look of Chicago Coin's 1961 Pro hockey.

This Criss Cross Pop Up? I just finished one of these up for my game room. In my younger days, we gambled and played this for drinks.

If I ever find a nice one for sale reasonably, I'd add a Gun Smoke pinball to my collection. That's the only C.C. pin on my list to own.

Correct you are Alex. The Pop Up is neat though. Something about the old Chicago coin games that appeals to me.

#142 9 years ago

There's been a CC "Pirate Gold" on eBay for some time. Is it a good game, or what? I've never seen or played one.

Hi all, there is a heading for clubs, where I think this thread should be moved to. There are other EM clubs there already.
Thought I would put this post up before moving, Give the EM guys time to see what happened to this thread.

Here are my Chicago Coin Pins - a Dolphin and a Riviera. Lots of fun to work and and play pretty well too. Both have neat features.

Well... I guess I belong in this club now. Found this gem this weekend at a garage sale with a little sign that said 'Ask me about my pinball machine'. The gentleman said 'if you can move it out.. it is yours!' To say the least, I wasn't googl'ing pinball machines until yesterday as I had no intention of joining this club, but wanted to. Currently it is getting power but no game play. Wish me luck on this journey.

Quoted from swampfire:

I have a 1973 World Series that the previous owner lovingly restored the cabinet on. But rather than paint it, he used oak veneer. I told my wife this qualifies it as furniture so she ought to let me put it in the bar (where other games are banned).

I redid all of the labels on the inside of the game because I got tired of not being able to read them:

I have a 1975 Big League which I think must be the solid state version of World Series because they look pretty much the same. It's funny...for all the pins and couple of vids that I have, the Big League gets played the most when I have parties.

Congrats! Free is the best!

The best 70's CC pinball game IMO.

Looks like you will need a Cabinet repaint if you want it original as it looks like an operator switched out the Cabinet at some point most likely due to extreme damage issues on the route as that is not the original paint scheme.

Your Backglass looks great, maybe even better than mine by a tad. Your Playfield will need some touchup, more than mine did, but you can see the pictures of how that turned out for me on this thread. Pop Bumper wear was common on these CC games as they used no Mylars around the Pop Bumpers. I will install non adhesive Mylars on mine down the road if I ever get around to rebuilding them.

WHATTTTTT, you got a free machine too!!!!!!

Must be my turn now!

#150 9 years ago

In the past year, we acquired two CCM machines. Both are 1974, a Dolphin and a Hi Flyer. Growing up in the 70's, I've always wanted one. Finally, have two!! Fun toys for sure, and my 8 year old likes them too. Our 13 year old prefers Xbox (clueless!!, ha ha).

I've learned to tinker and repair, as well as collecting spare parts if needed in time. Both machines work great, and have a cool / free ball (same player shoots again) feature.

I love the classic sounds of these machines!
