First off I just want to warn you all I am a newbie. My question for all of you is if a machine is worth the restoration or not. I found a 1970 Chicago coin big flipper for cheap money on Craigslist. I went and checked it out and the guy knew nothing about it. He got it from somewhere and drilled and replaced the locks to get into the thing. It appears at some point someone put the wrong fuses in and that’s why it wasn’t working which I found out when I brought it home. Well worth the $1 in fuses. Anyway, the play field is in pretty good shape, the backglass has a decent amount of flaking and the cabinet needs some repair. Should I give it the full overhaul or just flip it? I know the Chicago pins are hard to come by and was wondering if it was worth putting money into. I know what you are all thinking. I picked a tough machine to start with.

I have owned and restored several cc pinball games. I currently have sound stage. I also own a twin rifle. Cc games are generally valued less than other games of the era. If you do a full blown restoration be warned you may be lucky just to break even. You may even lose money. I do it because I like restoring games and see the beauty in all of them. If you are looking to profit, flip it now while you can still make money.

I’m not looking to make money. It’s more for a sense of accomplishment. I figured I would break even or take a loss and I honestly don’t care. I’m also doing a captain fantastic that’s in great shape that had been sitting broken in a warehouse. That’s a machine worth while, at least from what I have learned. Thanks for your reply. I just wanted to get an opinion from someone who has done it a while and is familiar with the off brand

Question about free-play on the Dolphin , is it possible? I've heard some games can be jumpered on the coil but don't know if the Chicago Coin machines would allow this.

mark532011 yes you can make the game free play. I always solder 2 jumper wires with insulated male staycon on one and insulated female on the other. Solder them to the normally open end switch on the credit wheel. It makes the game easily convertible from free play to coin op.

If the mini baseballs were only closer....

So the scoring reels aren’t moving. They do once in a while mostly on player 2. Thoughts?

have just picked up a chicago coin twin rifle, can anybody help with a .pdf for the manual and schematic?

I guess I just joined the club. I picked up a 1974 Gin. I have a couple of questions.

1. I have one Cracked plastic and one drop target that is missing a piece. Does anyone know where I can find replacements?
2. The Back glass that I have is made of plastic. Does that mean it's a repro?

Welcome to the club. Not sure on the plastic pieces. The bg could be a repro but it's possible it's a factory option. Other manufactures during that time offered a plastic bg as an extra purchase item.

My 1962 United "Embassy" shuffle alley has plastic back glasses. I believe those came standard on the bowlers and shuffle alleys during that time.

I don't remember having a Chicago Coin factory pin plexi backglass, but I do know that Gottlieb
sent some of their export pins with plexi backglasses. I got in a Majorettes that was probably meant
for export. It came with a plexi glass..

I have 2 sources for used cc parts. One is in nj and the other is in California. I am at work. I will try to remember to send you the contact info.

I have my Gin up and running. One weird issue I am seeing is the 10 score reel doesn't align with the others. Keeps score fine.

Last item is the printing the 000 on the bonus score.

The reel might not be assembled correctly - or it's binding. Nice looking machine

Look at the adjacent reels and see if the 10s one is correctly inserted. Most times, the reels have a guide or some type of channel that they slide into. It would appear as though the 10s reel is riding above the guide/slot that it should be in. Looking at adjacent reels should show you how they're connected/inserted. I'm guessing it's not in the guide correctly.

Thanks. It was seated correctly but the channel was bent. Took to the shop and straighten out and now it looks good.

I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of where I could find a ball in play card for a CC pin similar to the one I attached. It doesn’t have to be that color. It’s semi transparent in areas to show what ball is in play and game over. If someone makes them PM and I will buy one off of you. The one I have isn't even red it's just really beat up.

Look at http://www.pinballrebel.com/pinball/cards/ as Inkochnito may have and if he doesn't have it will make it for you to the point all you will need to do is have a local printing place print it out for you.

I worked with him on some nice cards for Moon Shot using mine as a template and scanning in the plastic so it could be reproduced.

Looks like a 1976 Cinema and a 1975 gold record without a backglass

Was digging in my garage and found a CC Sound Stage (bought a lot of 5 pins for $200 and kinda been sitting on them)

I was looking it over and if I remember right everything is there and works I’m just missing the play field plastics.

Anyone know if they are available? I would need a complete set (whishful thinking). I may put it togeather and see if it’s salvageable or a part out project

Looks like a great time to experiment with making your own plastics and decals for them. There are a few threads on the process, it looks like fun!

Hmmmmmm........now I'm curious. I may try to make plastics. I need to figure it out and plug it in see what I got.

I own sound stage but it is not at my house.
I will be moving it to.my house in the next few weeks. Depending on what you plan on doing I may be able to scan the plastic for you.

Call me crazy, but my favorite EMs are made by Chicago Coin. I WISH I could find more. I only have Showtime and absolutely love it!

Anyone have a set on CC Beatniks plastics to sell? Could really use a left slingshot the most but have a couple others that have chipped off corners.

We have a 1969 Moon Shot and it is a wicked fun game and built like a brick building for good measure.

I am thinking it was just using the shooter gauge from a parted out CCoin game.
I know of no EM pins with score reels and spring bumpers from that era;
with metal playfield. A few German pins had similar construction and layout though.

Love that there is a CC group on here. I have a group on facebook dedicated to CC/Stern EM machines. I have owned the following games through my life.
Stampede(2), Blue Max(2), Top Ten, Pirate Gold, Beatnik, Cinema. I feel like more but I can not remember. All the ones I have owned have had amazing playfields and backglasses. They can be quirky to work on. But I sure love them!!!

I have owed some as well, Hollywood, 2 sound stage, twin rifle.
They are always fun to play

Somehow I have 3 C.C. Hollywoods hanging around, and remember from shopping a couple years
back, it wasn't a bad player, and thought I'd go through one to put in a Friend's restaurant. So I dollyed
in the one that I got in all apart, fixed a bunch of wiring (amounst other things) and liked it's play so
decided to go through another for the game room. That's when I noticed there were differences with the
playfields. One is the caps for the plastics (both definitely factory), but mostly one had jones plugs
for playfield to bottom board, and the other had the white plastic plugins as what is used for the
head. Must be Hollywood is when Stern made the transition and went cheaper with plastic plugins for
the bottom board also. Maybe I have one of a few, but evidently not all Hollywood playfields are
interchangeable without extensive work..

Yes, briefly, but hadn't noticed any in usual places. Nothing under the upper apron either..
Tomorrow I'll check in other places on the cab..
