What is a fair price to pay for a 1975 Chicago Coin Olympics Pinball machine?
It is in fair to good condition and works good.
Or is this a machine to stay away from?

Depends on the asking price! This particular game dosn't typically sell for more than 500$. Being that it's in fair to good condition if you can get it for 300 or under then I would go for it! All comes down to what you're willing to pay and what you would be happy with!

Of course the seller will tell you that "there is one on ebay that they're asking 2k for" for which you can reply "understood but that machine has been on ebay and hasn't sold"! ebay.com link: Pinball Machine Chicago Coin Olympics 1975

Edit - I just noticed the one on eBay is in your area! If this is the machine you're looking at then I would suggest to pass on it! 2k, even 1k, is high for this game! Also, the backglass has a lot of cracking to it and the red is faded! Wouldn't be surprised if the backglass isn't worse than it appears! However, the playfield looks pretty darn nice!

It's a game that is probably easier to buy than sell, if that helps.

I have one that's missing the head should you need parts.

Sadly, late model CC pinballs have very little value. Like O-din stated, you probably won't be able to get back what you paid for it when the time comes to sell. So, it better be $250 or less otherwise pass!

Overall, very poor quality went into building them. Its not that parts are scarce because they are not (lots of CC games get junked due to lack of interest). The problem is that all the same worn parts are worn on every game.

Ok, thank you all for the advice.
