    Completed full resto on this machine. Being a bit different to other machines I have restored I found this one quite enjoyable not the least because because my Grandsons love bikes. I have included a range of pics which will hopefully help others when restoring/working on a CC Motorcycle.
    I purchased the machine in non working condition and with the original cab paint replaced by an all orange colour.
    As is my normal approach first activity was to get the machine working and these were the issues diagnosed and corrected:
    -a wire to the credit bulb was caught under the switch resulting in continuing credit activation and naturally no reset. Wire repositioned and secured;
    -the 10s score drum had a cooked coil and molten sleeve and the coil mounting bracket with completely broken tab one side and other side split. Switches out of adjustment. Purchased replacement coil and bracket from PBR;
    -misaligned switch activator on position score reel assembly preventing reset;
    -dirty jones plugs;
    -gummed steppers;
    -broken anti cheat relay coil tab broken (repaired);
    -broken wire to volume control of sound system (repaired).

    Now for the resto. First item of business was to install castors to this large and heavy assembly. As an aside I bought a small manual forklift a couple of years ago to be able to better handle heavy loads without assistance. It is great for items such as arcade and ball bowler machines. When not lifting it is useful as an adjustable height bench.

    canon16082020 007 (resized).JPGcanon16082020 007 (resized).JPG

    Using polystripper I was fortunately able to identify the original cab graphics which indicated that at some point the cab had been repainted green (possibly a Kawasaki biker) and then orange.

    canon15072020 001 (resized).JPGcanon15072020 001 (resized).JPG

    Using tracing paper a trace was then taken of the graphics and then the tracing paper cut to enable transfer of the design to mdf board (7mm) which is then cut for the graphics to form the stencils. The cut stencils are then verified against the cut stencils and registration marks set. This form of stencil facilitates the original factory bleed during spraying and is able to be reused.

    The cab is now sanded, structurally repaired and gouges etc filled with automotive filler and primed.

    Final finishes now applied

    canon21072020 004 (resized).JPGcanon21072020 004 (resized).JPG

    Complete repaint shown in final pictures. These are the used stencils for the cab and topper.

    canon12082020 005 (resized).JPGcanon12082020 005 (resized).JPG

    The backglass had some flaking and the topper translite was a poor reproduction. I have ordered replacements from bgresto. In the meantime I sealed and touched up the bg.

    canon07082020 002 (resized).JPGcanon07082020 002 (resized).JPG

    The topper fluoro was not working which required replacement of the ballast, repairs to wiring and general service of other components and repair of the top timber retention piece (flouro not included in this pic)

    canon30062020 001 (resized).JPGcanon30062020 001 (resized).JPG

    canon21072020 005 (resized).JPGcanon21072020 005 (resized).JPG

    Servicing of the score reel assemblies and timer was an important part of the resto to ensure a proper reset and start to each game. GI bulb holders were soldered to their base to sustain light performance.

    canon03082020 007 (resized).JPGcanon03082020 007 (resized).JPG

    canon13082020 010 (resized).JPGcanon13082020 010 (resized).JPG

    The dashboard console and steering and accident actuator unit were removed and serviced.

    canon29072020 002 (resized).JPGcanon29072020 002 (resized).JPG

    Some time was spent disassembling and servicing the motorboard. Considerable crud and dust had accumulated on all components. This board is a fascinating piece of ingenuity and engineering. Overall there are five motor on the machine-the main scenery strip reel; the inner and outer motorcycle wheels; the timer; and the score reset motor.

    canon11082020 009 (resized).JPGcanon11082020 009 (resized).JPG

    Not sure whether retention of the white plastic screen was enabled originally by harness retainers but I fabricated a metal retainer which also provides lateral support to the screen.

    canon07082020 003 (resized).JPGcanon07082020 003 (resized).JPG

    The instruction board was split and warped which was largely created by a wire harness pushing on the card when the back door was closed. Retained the harness and gave the rear of the instruction card a light water spray and weighted overnight. That did a good job to straighten the card. I then applied self adhesive repair sections to the rear of the card and carried out minor touch-ups.

    canon03082020 001 (resized).JPGcanon03082020 001 (resized).JPG

    The adjustment instruction cards within the upper mechanism were laminated and remounted on a fresh black board behind the mirror.

    canon07082020 007 (resized).JPGcanon07082020 007 (resized).JPG

    Apart from cleaning and a lube to the rivets no problems with the handlebar speed control mechanism.

    canon16082020 006 (resized).JPGcanon16082020 006 (resized).JPG

    All components of the backdoor mechanism were serviced and where required new labels created. Freeplay was created by jumpering the credit light and zero switches within the credit unit.

    canon15082020 001 (resized).JPGcanon15082020 001 (resized).JPG

    The coin door was resprayed and components serviced.

    On the bottom cab door inside left I have a laminated envelope (which had been mouse chewed as with most of the stapled machine labels). The envelope contained the original machine sale documents and indicates the machine had been sold to a shop owner on the south coast of the State of New South Wales, Australia. I always find these trinkets fascinating. I replaced most of the machine labels as part of the resto.

    canon16082020 002 (resized).JPGcanon16082020 002 (resized).JPG

    The original flyer for this machine indicates that a seat was available as an optional extra. I have never seen an image of an actual one. I am toying with the idea of creating a seat from this bike seat obtained from the local recycling centre.

    Overall very happy with machine and the resto-the machine provides quite a variety of play to the gameroom.

    Quoted from Hyperball91:

    Wow Wayne, you did a fantastic job on that restore. I loved reading the story and seeing it progress to the final photo. I say you should go with your idea of adding the seat. Cheers

    Thanks for your kind comments Mal-much appreciated. Yep am going ahead with the seat-will post a pic when completed.

    Machine now installed in gameroom back to back with Sea Raider.
