Did not see this in a search and I know a lot of us have Dehumidifiers in our gamerooms....Well, I received a recall letter in the mail the other day, mine was included... Offered $132.32 cash or replacement, I chose replacement as mine was over $200 to replace. I guess they burst into a fireball, so...Check yours!

Quoted from Deez:

Website isn't working for me. Wonder if it's down?

It's still working, a buddy of mine just checked his and it was recalled as well (Which worked out even better for him as his had died and he was planning on grabbing a new one before spring)....

Quoted from Monk:

Is this a new recall, or the same one from about 3 years ago? I had one that was on a massive recall years ago and got a refund (which took a long time to get). I'll have to check my replacement to see if that is on this list.

Yup, it's a new one. The old one did not cover my last Dehumidifier, which sucked because it died right before the recall.

At least with this new recall it only requires pictures and cutting the cord, which I made sure would still reach the outlet if I needed to drop a new plug on the wire

Quoted from Monk:

Has anyone received the confirmation that their dehumidifier is recalled? I filled out the online forms and sent the pictures 2 weeks ago and immediately received the attached e-mail. I was thinking I would get another e-mail confirming my unit was on the recall so I would have an idea as to when my unit would arrive (8 weeks from confirmation). After reading it again maybe we don't actually receive a confirmation e-mail. Has anyone who has submitted before March 2nd received any more information, or their new dehumidifier?

Has been a month since I got that email, nothing since...

Quoted from Monk:

Ok, good to know. Please let us know when you receive additional information or your new unit so we have an idea as of how long this might take.

No problem, will do!

Quoted from Monk:

Just an FYI. I called the number for the recall to ask them if my machine had already gone through the confirmation process. The guy pulled my recall right up and stated it was confirmed the day after I submitted the pictures and the new dehumidifier would be shipped out in 4 more weeks.

Cool, thanks for letting us know!

Quoted from PanzerFreak:

Received an update, there's been a delay and now expected ship date is mid May...

Got the same email yesterday....Glad I cut the cord so I can install a new plug and still use if needed..

#53 7 years ago

Looks like I need to attach a new plug to mine until new one arrives, humidity edging up down there..

Quoted from Monk:

Interesting. What size did you have to replace. I have not heard anything yet and I submitted march 2. Mine is a 70 pint.

I'm in the same boat, his must have been smaller....I'm curious what brand they sent, is it cheesy or decent?

#68 6 years ago
Quoted from Monk:

I called the customer service number yesterday to check on my replacement as it has been over 8 weeks. They said there has been a delay on manufacturing the 50 and 70 pint units in China. They expect to ship the new units out in the middle of May (no actual date given). Apparently they will notify me once the unit ships though. It is just a waiting game now.

Thanks for the update!

Just got a UPS Tracking # for my 70pint submitted claim on 2/14...

#72 6 years ago

My replacement arrived today, 70pint Frigidaire FFAD7000T1. Seems a tad cheesier than my previous one (had to install constant drain, also has no handle) but I guess it won't burn the house down, so that's a plus.

Anyone else ready to take a fire axe to their replacement? Mine has lost its setting twice, was then off by 10% which is usual for these things and why I have a separate meter. Just get downstairs and it's 60% in the basement, unit is set to 60% (but it actually thinks it 50%) but it's reading 45% Um....POS?

Well, unplugged this POS last night after getting electric bill that was $50 higher....Runs basically non-stop (stops for 15sec then starts back up)....Called recall number, they hung up on me. Sat on hold with Frigidaire for 45min, claim submitted for replacement, no questions asked (Hmm, are others having the same problem?)...Let's see how this goes..

Quoted from Monk:

I received the unit Wednesday. It certainly seems cheaper than the recalled unit, but I will follow up once it runs for a while. I will also update on power usage.
Also I am wondering if we all have received the same model. I just went to look up what model mine is and I can't find it anywhere. I'm wondering if this is a unit specifically made for recalls and not for sale on the shelf. The box was fairly generic with little information as well. I will have to check the exact model number when I get home.

My 70pt replacement Model # is FFAD7000T10

Good luck if your cheapo replacement is junk....Called Frigidaire, they mailed me a letter telling me to call Midea. Call Midea, they give me a number to call Midea service.. that number just rings, no one's answers....Put my pending fireball unit back in, had basement humidity level back to normal in less than 20 min and shut off.

#111 6 years ago

Well on my 8th try someone actually answered the phone, now they want me to cut the cord on the new one send them a picture and they will send another POS...

Quoted from dung:

Sorry to necro bump an old thread, but I was wondering what ended up happening with everyone's replacements? I just got a new one of these tonight and am questioning if I should keep it or not.

First one never shut off...they had me cut the cord, send a pic, then got another one. No issues with the replacement of the replacement.

Quoted from Capinball:

This has been one of the more helpful threads on this site with nothing to do about pinball. I was at my parent’s house yesterday and they had bought a new dehumidifier to replace their old one which seemed to not be working properly. I remembered the thread and checked their serial number against the recalled ones. Sure enough, it was on there. Submitted the info for the refund check. How have your replacement dehumidifiers been working now that they’ve been up and running for a while?

Glad it could help!

My first replacement ran 24/7, I ended up receiving a second to replace the replacement. It's still working fine, definitely cheesier than my recalled one, but does it's job.
