Quoted from NightTrain:Oh man. Would love to have a piano like that!
2009, when the economy collapsed, you could get any grand piano you wanted free on CL
They would start at 15K, then 5K then 1K, then "I want someone to come get this piano before the bank takes the house on Thursday"
Uprights went straight to the curb. No one would even come get them for free.
It cost $350 to move them, so there was some cost involved.....

Anything big. Piano, harpsichord, pool tables, etc. etc. Because it costs money to haul them out and move and set back up.
People were upset that they paid huge money for them. But if they didn't use and enjoy them, that is where any value was.
LTG : )
Very cool. First thought that came to mind was how heavy that thing has to be to counter the piano weight so I looked up the specs. Unit weight 750lbs Safe load capacity 1350lbs
Quoted from Rondogg:Still next to nothing on fb marketplace.
And a number of them are a liability, not an asset. I’ve seen too many where the person receiving a free/cheap piano was saving the grantor/seller the cost of disposal. You can sometimes get a decent one, but some of them aren’t worth taking even for free.
In the last Dune book, which of course is supposed to thousands and thousands of years in the future they talk about all of the problems with pianos. Frank Hubert was on to something.
