    would the 3.7v of a little rechargeable LiPo be enough to keep things ok? 240mAh can be inexpensive. same thought about using 4 AA NiCad or NiMh to supply 4.8v (much larger capacity) or a little less, if the charging voltage is intentionally lower.. like 5v in for 4.4 or 4.6v out?
