I'm storing most of my games as we build a new home and they are in a basement room.
The basement has been dry for the more than 1 year we've lived here BUT, I've been concerned about what would happen should a pipe break or a other unforseen issue
I had plans to build a platform of plywood and 4x4's but thought that maybe pallets might work as well
I checked on Craigslist and found lots of pallets for sale and ended up buying some that are solid plywood on top
They worked perfect, were only $2.50 each and give me cheap peace of mind
Took about 6 hours to empty the room, add the pallets and refill/restack the folded games
I run a dehumidifier in there as well to keep a constant 50% humidity
If you're storing games in a lower level of your home, you might consider it ... games that are set up give you quite a bit of protection from flooding but folded games give you less than an inch before devastating damage can be done
