Nailed it! Thanks. And yah, I set that messing around with it in the first place.
Quoted from whthrs166:So how many of you guys use the post to hit the jabs to knock out your boxer? And do you know how to cheat to knock out your boxer? And finally, do you think it’s cheating to use the post to hit the jabs?
Yes you can’t line up post for jabs. Makes it too easy. Game much harder to become the champ without.
Quoted from Onwallst:Yes you can’t line up post for jabs. Makes it too easy. Game much harder to become the champ without.
But the great thing about this game is if you do use the post to knock out the boxers how many boxers can you knock out in a game? The knock outs get harder and harder because it progressively requires more jabs to knock out each boxer as you move through the game. Now in order to use the post consistently, your game has to be set up and working correctly. My machine had a broken post so I could not consistently hit the jabs off the post. Once I determined that the post itself was damaged, I replaced it. Now I have the consistency needed to knock out off the post. I think knocking out off the post has to be in the games design. Cheating? perhaps, but maybe just a different play style that is a part of a very unique machine. I think the cheating comes in when you use the Smart Punch to knock the Boxer! Shame Shame...
Ordering LEDs from Pinball Bulbs. Any LED issues besides under the fighter I should be aware of?
Side & back art is on their way.
Thanks!
On another note, I attached some ideas in case anyone likes them. Borrowed the beer mug idea from first post on slings. Seen gloves before but thought it needed more. Mug on top lights up. Not as talented as guys building boxer toppers, but it works. Oh, and they actually sell beer mugs for Ken and Barbie. Those two!!! The life....

Added custom rope since last post. So much better. Also added cards for casino night.
Waivering on color dmd. I have them on my other pins, but likes the original for this title. If I go with color, any thoughts on lcd for this one?
Prefer to order Tilt's side art. Has such a pub feel. Love mirror blades but think this is more pub than gym. Any votes or there? Mirrors are amazing and they are on my Elvis, but print looks great for a closed pub feel.
Thanks for the discussion. Still looking for any concerns with LEDs.
Thanks all.

I cannot for the life of me get the speed bag adjusted so it registers consistently. I think the most I have gotten off of it was 4 registered hits. I have the switch blades as close as possible. Am I missing something? I do not have a manual yet although I think ipdb has a pdf of one. can someone post a picture of their setup? It looks like there was a section of foam back there at some point that has long since deteriorated away. is this essential?
Quoted from lint:Am I missing something?
Yes you are... Behind the speed bag there is (supposed to be anyway) a recoil pad (my word for it). A small rectangular soft pad that absorbs vibration when the bag is hit. If that pad is missing or damaged, you will get the condition your describing. These pads are behind targets on pf also. That pad behind the speed bag is very important to the operation of the hit counts. Take a look back there.
Quoted from RoboBot:If I go with color, any thoughts on lcd for this one?
Yes, go with the LCD. Looks awesome on high resolution. Colordmd is worth it's wait on this title. What's really funny is when you are in a fight and you are winning, The boxer in the dmd is all beat up and bruised! It's hillarious!

thanks for the quick reply. There is nothing in the bottom of the machine so I guess I need to order one or is there a hardware store equivalent of foam tape or something similar?

Yeah you can use that sticky back foam weather strip stuff. Its about a 1/2" wide. First you need to see if there is anything back there left.
Quoted from Mtg381:Where I can get my hands on the elusive Danger Zone switch?
You have to build one out of a switchgate.
Quoted from whthrs166:I have a source but: you have to make a few modifications. 1. You have to drill new holes in gate structure to get the gate to line up with the posts. 2. You have to modify the gate wire to allow the gate to open one way only.
The part numbers are: 01-9654-2 gate
12-6938 wire gate and mini micro blade switch Parts are found at Marco.
Quoted from whthrs166:You have to build one out of a switchgate.
what switch do you use?
Quoted from Vernisious:what switch do you use?
A mini micro with a blade lever. You can try part number 180-5128-00.
See that silver metal bracket behind the bag, thats where the pad is supposed to be. My game is folded and stored right now so I cant take a picture. This is the problem.

If I could reach this through the computer we could fix it right now.
image (resized).jpgthanks! any tips on getting replacement foam? I am sure the hardware store has a ton of weatherstripping options but I would like a lead on size, density, etc.

Yep, and as you can see I am almost out as well...
got the speedbag sorted, thanks whthrs166 !
Next question. This game came with the top ball diverter removed and in the bottom of the cabinet. As you can see it looks like they have a coil issue with this mechanism. Before I slap a new coil in there is this something common on this machine? Any leads on tracking down the issue?

Well, looks like you have a burning issue there. It looks to me that the diverter coil locked on. So, I would go to the solenoid table in the manual look up the diverter and find it's corresponding Transistor Q__. Once you do that you can Identify that transistor on the power driver board. Make a note of it and then install the new coil with the pretense that it will activate as soon as you turn power on to the machine. If it does just shut of the machine and replace that transistor. If it does not then go to the solenoids test and try and fire it with a test. (coin door closed) If it works then you have something else that happened there and I have no idea what may have caused that coil to burn up. If it does not work in test mode then you need to check voltages at the coil. hope this helps.
When you turn on our champion pub the jump rope starts running and does not stop unless you open it up and press the reset button. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks
Hi all, hopefully this is still the right forum topic to ask questions about Champion Pub. I just bought one and of course have questions!
1. Do I have the latest game and sound code/ROMs?
Game shows:
CHAMPION PUB REV. 1.6
SOUND REV. 1.0 SY 3.76 07/02/98
2. Is my DANGER ZONE switch/assembly working or do I need some other update/ROM/assembly?
When I go to Switch Edge test and push the switch I see REMOVED. Is this normal or does it mean that feature is disabled?
Please see attached photos of all, thanks!

Yep! Better late than never. Your opto board for the Jump Rope has an issue. I would just replace the opto on the board. Look up the part in the manual. The rope should work as advertised once you do this.

Yes, your Danger Zone is enabled! Removed in the switch test is normal for an active switch. Your ROMs are up to date.

WOOOHOOO! Thank you so much for the quick confirmation!
Unfortunately I found an issue just now ironically audio-wise. The center/sub speaker at first seemed like it wasn't outputting anything and the right speaker is about half as loud as the left. After testing the sub by literally touching my hand to it, it's activating just incredibly low to the point where I can crawl under the machine and barely hear it. Whereas the left speaker is incredibly loud and pitchy and still the right speaker is super low. While this may "sound" nitpicky it's actually making the game kind of hard to listen to even at sound level 6 or lower (stock is 8 which is incredibly ear-piercing).
I took a quick look at settings and don't see any options to adjust audio besides volume. Also looked at wiring, connections, and fuses, and nothing stands out.
Any ideas what to look for specifically?
The game does have all boards replaced with Rottendog boards if that helps. Here's a pic of the Rottendog A/V board WPC95. I don't see any potentiometer / ways to adjust anything.
PXL_20210731_021509501 (resized).jpgunplug the base cabinet speaker and see if the situation changes. If it does, ohm out the base speaker to make sure it is not bad. do the same thing with the right speaker. I have found that if you have a bad speaker it will cause all kinds of issues with sound. Afterward try moving the volume to see if the situation changes. No change, then Reseat your ribbon cables on your sound board. No change, then with the game on and in play Gently press on the sound ROMs.
Quoted from Troyser:Anyone have any danger zone switches they want to sell ?
I am also interested in this.

Check Marco. A-17515. That gate switch should work.
Hey CP homies! I have an issue with the jump rope coil / assembly that jumps the ball. It seems to be very inconsistent in both A) The height that the ball is popped up is sometimes higher/lower and B) sometimes it seems like the ball is jumping slightly left. When A happens the ball contacts the jump rope on its upswing and get's knocked away. When B happens the ball lands against the left ramp of the assembly and doesn't make it's way back onto the magnet and it's mode over. In any case it's pretty frustrating b/c on average it's 3-5 pops and then one of those issues occurs and the mode is failed. What would be your best guess as to what here I should adjust/replace. Does this sound like a coil issue? A magnet issue? LMK if you need specific pictures. I appreciate the help!
Quoted from tonyf1965:thought I would share this picture. Similar issue pulled the speaker out of STNG and it looked like this.
Most likely it’s moisture that causes that. I have seen plenty of those speakers that were pristine.
Hey all. I just installed some arms on a machine that did not come with any and I am running into an issue with the boxers right hand running into the left ramp. He can get into position and return just fine but this will eventually produce wear that I want to avoid. What would be the adjustment point for this?PXL_20210912_023414264 (resized).jpgPXL_20210912_023419654 (resized).jpgPXL_20210912_023428402 (resized).jpg
Man, that is one dirty dude! I would loosen the boxer from his coupling (two allen screws) pull him out and away from the coupling. Take one or two flat washers and slide them on the shaft (essentially raising the boxer up a bit) then reinstall. That should keep him from hitting the ramp.

Thanks. The dirt is just a black acrylic wash. I had to repaint the arms when I got them from Marco as they were two very different colors of flesh tone from different production runs. I wanted to match the dirt level on his shirt from the factory.
Is the fix you mention above common? I assumed I could reposition that one arm a little UP to clear the edge of the green ramp?
Quoted from lint:the fix you mention above common?
Yeah I had to use it. The problem with moving an arm is it needs to be in sych with the other arm.
Also, randomly, the jump rope will continue turning at start up, and sometimes after a jumping session. Only happens 10-20% of the time. Will cleaning the two optos fix this. Is there a method to assure they are properly aligned? Thank you!
Quoted from Buzzie:I am having an issue with the ball becoming hung up and stuck under the fighter’s right hand when entering that side of the orbit. Will whthrs166 suggestion solve this issue? Thanks!
Yes, I have fixed a few with just lifting that boxer up just a little.

This condition is caused by a failing Jump Rope Opto. You can just buy the Opto and soldier it in the Rope Board. Check the manual for the part number and I think Marco has those.
can someone please post a photo of the underside of the ramp diverter? I want to make sure I am assembling it correctly. thank you!
Bump!
