So since U20 is the "switch fuse" and it is socketed I will try this first.

#152 6 years ago

OK U-20 was the issue. Easy fix. I was easily able to press off 14 hits on the bag with my finger now.

Is there anything interesting about a prototype vs the production machine?

#156 5 years ago

yeah I am curious on what the differences are... Please do tell!

See for yourself what changes there might be

Does anyone have high res scans of the following decals?

They are part numbers 31-3102-5 and 31-3102-7

I have high res scans (600 dpi) of 5 of the other decals, but not these two.

when I added grommets to the posts separating the return lanes from the outlanes, the ball gets stuck on both sides. The posts aren't bent. Do you think the slingshot rubbers could be too thick?

That is most likely. On my machine it is a tight fit for the ball.

Some change the blue bus to a more accurate diecast model. Someone made a 3d sculpt for the junk cars above the car switches that sit by the crane. Check the pics in this thread.

Are we talking about The Pub ? Or Junkyard ????

#166 5 years ago

Blades n background looks really nice,
That and color dmd should give her new life , maybe a nice topper ! But something old school ? A lasserific wouldn’t do it justice unless Joe has something new

Yep, I have both machines - sorry I got mixed up.

how do the blades mount? do you need to remove them to lift the playfield?

All GameBlades come with installation instructions. I never remove the play field but I know some people do. Just seems like a lot of extra work.

#171 5 years ago

Yeah I never do either. It’s a bit tricky but the blades peel right off and reapply easily if you blow it. I used mirror blades on my Pub but I used your game blades on my CC.

#172 5 years ago

What I asked is if you have to remove the blades to lift the playfield to avoid damaging the blades

#173 5 years ago

How much would you de-value a Champion Pub brought back from Europe? Or would you?

I only have seen some pictures and it is a few hours away so I am trying to decide if I am going to view it or not.

Condition is most important. I don't think there would be any reduction in price just because it's a re-import.

Yeah I second this! I have seen reimport player games in better shape than US player ones. Not sure why probably just luck.

NO.

Question about sound rom upgrades.... I’m seein that S7 is the latest sound rom update. I just swapped game roms from 1.3 to 1.6 with a big improvement. Anyone have input on The Differences in the sound rom is and if it’s worth it to upgrade?

This is one that is tough to answer. I am not sure. You can contact Matt from Matt's Basement Arcade. He is licensed to burn the sound ROMs. He should be able to answer that for ya.

If there is a newer sound ROM it's not bad to be up to date for $14 shipped to your door...

Agreed. It is very exciting to hear new sounds on your 20 year old game!

So my ball keeps getting trapped at the top of the right green ramp on the plastic. it's getting trapped in the bend of the wireform. I have all new plastic standoffs that I haven't installed, but can anyone tell me or show me pictures of what is screwed into the standoffs below the spot?

The circled area is where the ball gets stuck and the ? marks point to the posts that I may be missing hardware on. I could thread screws in there, but i want the proper hardware.

Actually I Should have been more clear. I’m looking for what is underneath the plastic in the circled area?

There are a couple of posts under there. Here is a pic. That plastic is kind of loose and angles down and toward the ramp. Place a ball on there and it should roll dow and onto the green ramp.

Well it looks like I have a missing screw there! Thanks for the post. I wouldn't have found that if it wasn't for you. Hope this helps.

So I converted my Champion Pub to leds, and turned off GI dimming in the settings to fix the flickering, but there's one spot that still flickers: the big white insert underneath the boxer. The insert is lit by flashers.

Before I switch that single location back to incandescent flashers, what is everyone else using in that location?
Does anyone sell non-flickering flashers?

#188 5 years ago

The problem with that location is it's not used as a flasher. It has dimming and works as a spotlight to highlight the boxer. I have leds on all the other inserts and under pf flashers except that white insert. For some reason the red lightning bolts by the boxer don't have this issue.

#189 5 years ago

I’ve added a bolt to the post and put a piece of target foam on it to Prevent scratching the plastic, but the ball occasionally still get stuck in the wire form in the circled area. I may end up custom making a plastic for this area to prevent the ball trap, or some other yet to be determined fix. Am I the only one with the issue that the ball gets stuck there? See circled area on photo.

Mine just rolls against the rail and down off the plastic. Is your game leveled correctly? Wish you were closer you could come over and look at mine.

#191 5 years ago

Hi everyone. Anyone near FL or in Fl that would consider selling?

Thanks. John.

#193 5 years ago

Yeah it’s leveled correct. I’m OCD about that. I’ll figure something out, thanks!

#194 5 years ago

I am looking to joint the CP club. If anyone local to me is thinking of selling a nice example, please PM me. Thanks

#195 5 years ago

Finally put my 1.6 rom in. I had to adjust my factory danger zone switch a little bit but everything is working great and no more double ball launch.

Just wondered if anyone has a very difficult Speed Bag. My speed bag seems to be very difficult to get registered hits. I tested (numerous times) the switch and it registers every single hit when pressing. The ball appears to be very erratic when it is in the speed bag. If it hits the bag target it hits just on corners never in the middle. I am wondering now if the Geometry is off. I might try and shim the coils to see if will change that geometry some. I used to get Speed Bag Champion all the time on my other game. I am lucky if I can get 4 hits on this one.

OK I figured out the Speed Bag Issue: My speed bag is missing the "Stickable Cushion" behind the speed bag switch. The speed bag will not work without that cushion or if your cushion is worn out or damaged. The cushion keeps the switch from vibrating when it is hit. When switch vibrates the game will stop registering hits until the switch stops vibrating so there will be a pause between hits. This takes the "Speed" out of the speed bag. So you will only come away with two or three hits. There is a way to test your speed bag efficiency. Put your game into "Speed Bag" test mode. Close the coin door, take a ball and hold it against one of the fists with your finger, press the corresponding flipper button and let the fist knock the ball out of your fingers and hit the speed bag. The game will register the hit by showing the switch close (on the DMD) then toggle back to open (ready for the next hit) This should occur rapidly if there is a delay between open closed then there is a problem with the switch or the switch vibrating too much. When you press the speed bag you should feel that cushion. If you do not or if it feels loose the cushion needs to be replace. Fixed mine up this evening and put the speed back into the speed bag!

Going to be doing one of these tomorrow! I found a NOS playfield and I am going to install it. My playfield is not in bad condition. I just have a chance to make the game look and play near perfect. I will post up the pics as I go.
