Hi!

Question for you fine folks!

On a cold start, my jump rope motor just goes and goes and goes... I have to turn off the machine.

On the second cold start, the jump rope works just fine (it runs its test properly).

The jump rope opto tests properly.

Transistor going bad?

Thoughts? Thanks!

Looking to join the club. Does anyone want to sell a CP.

I have this nagging issue where my boxer’s right arm sags just enough to catch the ball only for it to be freed during the ball search routine.

It is aggravating I keep tightening the arm in the proper position but it always sags I think the force that the solenoids fire of the arms during boxing events is just too strong.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to tighten or keep the shoulder pin tightened to prevent this from happening? Maybe I need to use some locktite. I have a spare set of arms and I might end up grinding off just a little bit of the middle knuckle to keep the ball from catching, but I don’t want do that it unless I don’t have to.

I can’t remember if there’s a set screw in the shoulder pin or not. Any help?

I looked at my boxer just last week. After tightening the arm screw I found the shoulder screw was loose also. I did use blue locktite.

I too recently had this problem. The ball would get stuck under his wrist.

My fix was the same thing; tighten with locktight (not permanent one).

Hey all, my jump rope stopped jumping tonight. Is this an opto board issue? Mode starts but flippers don't pop ball up.

Awesome. Thanks everyone for the pic and links. Here's how my machine looks now. The pinballs have made a divot in the metal. I'll upload another snapshot after I add a bumper.

[quoted image]

It only took 4 years, but I finally got the parts I needed to fix my ball guide issue! I found a substitute blue rubber pad at Action Pinball & Amusement and thought I also found a metal bracket to hold it in place, but as you can see in the uploaded pics the bracket was too tall and I was debating how to file it down to size.

Blue Bumper Pad (Stern) Item# 626-5057-00
Guard - Metal Ball Guide (Bally/Williams) Item# 04-10253

Then low and behold, looking through my cabinet I found the exact bracket that had been hiding there the past 4 years...and its a perfect fit! My balls will appreciate the newly added comfort pad.

Nice original manual
New (green) mini ramps
"Danger zone" gate or full assembly

Thanks!

Question about preventative maintenance for my HUO. Is it worth talking the time to open up and regrease the mechanics of the jump rope or boxer gears? I assume if these essential parts break they may be hard to find. Thoughts from long time owners? I've only had mine for under a year but plan to keep it indefinitely.

YES! While the original grease might not be dried out. There's no harm in freshening things up.

Thanks! I'll pick some up. Any thoughts on best grease option? I'm reading that SuperLube or MBI / PBR Grease might be best? Or perhaps one of the kinds listed here at Marcos? https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/CHEM-LUBE

Superlube grease is good (larger tube - not the pen applicator). Or whatever you are comfortable with. These gears are so slow moving that it's not super critical. Be sure to lubricate the shafts.

Hi Pub Crew!

My machine recently stopped activating the Rope Popper, Ramp Divertor and the 1st speed bag fist. Where would I go about looking into what is connecting these items? Thanks for any help, I am more of an EM guy so need more guidance for this machine.

Found the issue with this. I had a fuse out which was probably blown from my Ramp Diverter issue. My Ramp Diverter still lifts up when the machine is turned on and stays up at all times. It does this until I turn the machine off because the coil is getting hot enough to smell. I notice the manual has a different orientation for the coil than how timlah79 is running his. Again, I have no reference as this coil was removed from my machine when I received it.

How I am running mine (same as timlah79):

Manual shows the coil flipped from this position:

Is this a manual error? If it is I am guessing my next place to look is the Driver Transistor?

#480 1 year ago

Recently joined the club. There’s a lightning bolt shaped insert on the right side of the playfield that doesn’t light up when cycling through the lamp test but I also don’t see an option for it. Is it just not used in the game?

Hi everyone. I've had a Champion Pub for a while and I'm trying to get it back in good shape. Everything is working, but I have two switches that have a strange behavior. The big punching bag one, sometimes I punch a lot of times and it doesn't take anything into account. The next game it works as if everything is normal.
Is there anything in the rules or code that I am missing?

And also the one of the training punch bag with the small fists. In test, it registers every contact, and in game I hit it a thousand times and it counts 3 or 4 hits...

Have you ever had these problems?
Thank you for your help !

check to see the small piece of foam is behind the switch.

#484 1 year ago

I don’t think it is. Is it a crucial thing ?

#485 1 year ago
Quoted from Turtlemaster:

yes it will not score correctly if it has rotted and fallen off. You will need to buy another for it to start registering hits again.

#486 1 year ago

Any chance you could make a picture of it ? Just to be 100% sure I’m thinking of the right place (as I don’t have it apparently)
That’d be great !
Do you know the Foam thickness ? 4mm maybe ? Thank you for your help.

#487 1 year ago

Problem solved ! I put back a foam I had, it’s probably more 2-3 mm actually. And it works ! Didn’t know about the major role of this foam. Thank you for the advice

Tech/troubleshooting help: I recently moved my CP to a new house. Everything has been fine up until today. Today when playing, the music cut out entirely during two occasions. SFX still going but no music. The music would return once getting into a different mode or w/e. But now another issue has surfaced. Just leaving the game on, not in gameplay, after a short while the machine will start "beeping/honking/dinging" randomly (that normal, single beep sound that it makes when you first turn it on). It will beep, then beep and beep every few minutes, over and over. And when it gets to this point the color DMD sometimes goes all yellow. Does this issue sound familiar? I'm hoping it's just a loose connection that occurred during the move but I have not been able to identify any loose connection. There are no errors showing upon bootup. The manual doesn't describe this behavior. Is there any LED or anything on the boards that could indicate a problem? I did go ahead and change the AA batteries for good measure but it's still doing this. It's worked great since I bought it second hand so I don't have much experience troubleshooting it. Appreciate any help.

smiley Done, thank you. Nothing was loose though. Here are some photos. As you can see the boards had been replaced with Rottendogs.

Photo 1 (machine off):
a) I have a Pinnovators audio board mod (blue arrows). The fact that the 1st backbox speakers plug is disconnected is expected. Those speakers have issues so I needed to "disable" them and the mod sends the sound out to my sound system speakers anyhow (always been this way before this issue began).

b) J107 (red arrows) is disconnected and what looks to be its plug is just hanging. I looked back at the photos I took when I first received the machine and that wasn't connected back then either aka never has been since I bought CP. Should that be plugged in with that hanging plug?

Photo 2 (machine on, coin door closed):
a) The audio board top left LED blinks rapidly (blue arrow). Is this normal?

b) LED103 (red arrow) is somewhat "dim" compared to the rest. Is that ok?

Photo 3 (machine on, coin door closed):
a) This is the board in the lower left corner of the backbox.

b) LED201 (red arrow) is not lit. Issue?

c) LED203 (blue arrow) blinks rapidly. Normal?

Anything else you can see in the photos that looks wrong?

I have all original boards in my game. Rottendog is different. I have an extra Rottendog WPC board that has never worked properly in any game I have tried it in. Good luck solving your problem. You need someone who knows those boards.

My CP is missing the 2 backbox bolts that secure the bottom of the backbox to the cabinet. Are these bolts the same as the leg bolts? If not, can anyone link me to the correct bolts to buy? They are not specifically listed in the manual. They are just referred to as "washer-head mounting bolts." Thanks!

EDIT: I think I found the ones that work at PinballLife: 20-9718 Williams/Bally 2" Backbox Wing Bolt

Any tricks for adjusting the arms so they don't interfere with any of the ramps? If I tighten down the arms completely the boxers right fist (facing me) runs into the upper playfield ramp. The left fist BARELY clears the front green ramp in front of it. Manual does not list any procedures for adjusting them. Any tips? There are flat spots on the arm shafts correct? shouldn't tightening against them line things up perfect?

(Disregard the dirty nature of the arms, this is artificial. I had to get two replacement arms and paint them to match. the grime is just a wash that looks worse in photos).

Curious, Since I don't have a manual yet can someone tell me the voltage the four spot light bulbs are running on. I'm guessing 6.3 volt but want to make sure before I attempt to change these to LED. I have a manual coming just playing around a bit with lighting options getting ready to order some bulbs from Comet.

Thanks in advance for any help.
