CGC’s Plastic White Light Diffusers

Quick question….does anyone know where CGC gets their light diffusers from, those thin plastic white ones they sometimes send to help with harsh LED’s?

Reason I ask is I’d like to put one in my translite box for Attack from Mars LE as there are some spots that are see through and the LED’s that shine through are pretty harsh when caught at the right angle.

I’m temporarily using wax paper, but concerned using that long term as I didn’t know if the heat would do anything to the paper which in turn could damage the translite, not to mention it’s a little tacky and a bush fix.

I already tried asking to the “go to source” (LTG), but he didn’t know.

Thanks as always for the help.

I would use parchment paper before using wax paper. Higher heat tolerance.

Awesome, didn’t even think to use that and agree since it’s just paper, should not have any ill effects on the translite.

Thanks again and that’ll save me some money.

Did this on my AFMr LE backglass, and it's perfect now - no more occasional blinding light coming through the clear part of the glass when I look up.

Thanks for confirming and will definitely switch out the wax paper for the parchment paper.

Wax paper is fine if it is in a LED outfitted lightboard/lightbox, as there is very little heat generated. However, parchment is probably still preferred if you have some white laying around.

Thanks for the confirmation, I’ve only had the wax paper in a couple of weeks and don’t keep my games on 24\7. I tried putting the wax paper directly over the LED’s but they shined right through so I had to put it right behind the translite to give some distance to diffuse the LED’s better.

I have those pre-cut parchment paper sheets and will replace the wax paper just to be safe.

Just glad so don’t need to order anything extra now so I can use that money for more mods

Thanks again for the help and advice.

Just in case anyone comes across this thread in the future, parchment paper works PERFECT as a diffuser for the translite. I initially used painters tape, but it doesn’t stick well to the paper (which makes sense) but I could also see some of the blue through the translucent design so gonna switch to scotch tape, but for now it works even better than wax paper and no worries the paper will cause any damage to the translite. I did double the paper up.

Take care.
