There's been surprisingly little talk about LEDs failing on these large pcbs on all of these new games. I have had socketed LEDs fail, so I'm sure the surface mounted LEDs can and will eventually start failing. So far it doesn't seem to be an issue, but I do have concerns about the long term upkeep with these games. All it takes is one LED out or even not emitting the proper color, and you're in for some significant repairs, especially if you can't source the OEM LEDs.

    Quoted from flynnibus:

Big or small.. same issue. I have a Rush RGB out.. but it's on the larger LED board.. so it's a board swap repair. Stern has both LEDs on the big LED boards which also feed smaller satelite boards.

Since this is an in-production title, I take it Stern sending you a replacement LED board?

So what happens when a particular board is no longer available? Even with a big manufacturer like Stern, I can't imagine they keep replacement LED pcbs in stock for every conceivable spot on every Spike era and later SAM game. Is there someone who fixes these LED boards? I currently have 6 games that use these LED pcbs and some of them are getting a little long in the tooth now. No LED failures yet, but it's bound to happen sooner or later.
