Quoted from EricHadley:

Green trim looks awesome in my opinion. When you are playing the game it really blends in and looks great! From the side it takes a moment to acquire its appearance, but after a while it looks good too! I switched my LE to green
No topper, I think CGC said this one is a test prototype, so maybe they didn't have toppers ready yet. Bar tender says it's been here a couple weeks.

It really is a great game (my favorite ever).... there's a reason mm and afm are top pins tho . Fun layout, great code, humor, great original themes, good toys, great music/fx and callouts and good looking artwork.

Quoted from arcademojo:

Back to MMR..... just got to make you wonder how many damn MMRs did they sell?

At least a few thousand i believe .... especially after the next batch of 500....

#193 6 years ago
Quoted from DeeGor:

To those that have played AFMr. How was the callout volume? Is it low like MMr or does it sound normal?

Y is this? I played a few afmrs and mmrs at allentown and the callouts were lower than the music and sound effects? Im sure it can be adjusted tho.....

Quoted from rubberducks:

Out of interest, are the mini saucer lighting kits on the LEs likely to be made available as kits to purchase for the others?

Doubt it but maybe the bill ung kit cld work?

#220 6 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

Interested in getting AFMr. I got a question: Does the playfield slide in and out like Williams' playfields do? Or are these more like the Stern playfields that don't have the sliding/locking mechanism?

Sld be just like a b/w

#221 6 years ago
Quoted from AstonEnthusiast:

Question about the lighted head side art and lighted pin blades... Looks awesome at PAGG, but it appeared the "material" was bulging and lifting from the sides. Is this just due to this game being a prototype? Or has this been addressed for production?

Its not factory and is a mod

#223 6 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

Good news! If that's true, I'll get one. Thanks!

U will love it... one the most fun pins ever made.

Quoted from KornFreak28:

I would assume much improved wiring and pcb's?

I wldnt go that far as the originals have held up well considering the age. I personally perfer the insert lighting on the originals (customizable) and definitely the original strobe(much brighter and better light spread) The new one just uses new technology which isnt a bad thing at all but both games have positive and negatives depending on who u ask . You sld get the le as its the best bang for buck imo...... Awesome pin that u sld love

#233 6 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

So you have an MMr...Did you experience any issues with fading inserts or something like that at all? I read about that somewhere. Thanks!

That really wasnt a big deal and definitely not worth worrying about imo......

Quoted from CGC_DougS:

The CGC line is up and running – the first four games are scheduled to ship tomorrow! We are initially building one hundred Special Edition games; Limited Edition games will then immediately follow.
We greatly appreciate your comments – many of your suggestions have been incorporated into AFMr. These improvements include:
1. CGC Stroke of Luck Hole Protector
2. Additional mylar has been added to further protect the playfield.
3. Blackout Feature – the game owner can now set the translite illumination to be turned off during Strobe Multiball.
4. Back Panel Art – The original AFM did not have back panel art. Doug Watson, created all new artwork for the backpanel.
5. Topper – Since we first debuted the topper at TPS, a great deal of time has been spent refining and further integrating it into game play.
6. SuzoHapp Door – The new coin door now features two slotted coin openings (with US quarter coin mechanisms) and will now accommodate a standard upstack bill acceptor (being highly requested by the operating community). For European customers, we will be using the single slot electronic coin mechanism opening (no mechanism included).
7. Customized Logo Display – Both the LE and SE now allow the game owner to customize the logo appearing on the speaker panel. Games will ship with the Bally logo appearing in the small Customized Logo Display area. Details on file requirements and installation procedures to be included in the manual.
By Friday of next week, we will be sharing a rough production schedule with our dealers. It’s up to the dealers to communicate to their customers where they fall in line, collect balances due, and ultimately arrange transportation on the games. We are ever so grateful for your input and the passion that so many show towards this industry. Please also follow us at https://www.facebook.com/chicagogamingcompany/. More information to soon come out of CGC.
Thank you.
Doug Skor

Will the backbox illumination only go off in strobe mb mode when enabled or will it go off whenever the playfield gi goes out during all the great lightshows afm has?

O wow even the dome flashers are leds .... i figured you wld be able to customize them at least.

#300 6 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

You can - put a different colored dome on lol. That's what I did on my MMr. I put some green domes and some purple domes on. Looks killer when the green flashes for the trolls popping up.

You sld see what it looks like when color marched tho.... it really really pops. Some colors dont look real great with cool/warm white under them.

#308 6 years ago
Quoted from BoJo:

Why do you care? You have your original that we all know is superior in every way and now that you can't make comments about the black out mod you need something else to nit pick about. I just hope their next remake is not a game you own because we'll have to hear it all over again.

Easy there man .... I dont think the original is superior in any way actually. I was just surprised the flashers were like that bc i thought they were still bayonet style. . I have a few friends looking to get one so i like to ask questions for them as they come to me for advice and my thoughts of things. I may even sell mine and own one down the road so i can have a perfect afm.

I actually still had a question that i asked about the backbox gi going out . Still waiting to hear back from cgc with the details. Its not a huge deal as im just asking questions ...thats it. Not hating on anything by any means

#341 6 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

Agree. Game felt solid and looked great. Especially if they are coming with a set of cliffy's like CGC mentioned. Fun playing a brand, spanking new AFM.

It will still need cliffys but will come with a mantis type one on sol scoop which is nice.

Quoted from stpcore:

I just ordered 40 of the Cool Whites for AFMLE. Thanks again NiftyLED for listening to customer feedback and giving us options to personalize our machines. This entire experience with the AFMLE preorder had been very pleasant and full of nice surprises.

Some choice colors look great in afm also .... especially sone red in the back area near the pops.

Much more difficult to make a brand new pin from scratch compared to something that has been out for 20+years. That being said the afm rollout has been great and im glad they didn't hurry it after mmr . Congrats to cgc and thanks for the remakes.

Quoted from bigdaddy07:

Doug,
First I would like to say thank you for setting the bar in responding to questions and concerns. I wish other manufactures would follow your lead here.
As to the strobe issue. I believe the hopeful expectation for most of us is something similar to this. At 4:13
» YouTube video
However, I do realize that Bigd likely has his upgraded from the original and it is awesome. The AFMR video out there shows just a dark playfield with a very timid blinking light in the back.
Look at 14:07
» YouTube video
I think expectations for one of the most applauded features in pinball were a bit greater than what we see in the AFMR video. If it could be a little more strobe lighting and a little less plain dark playfield, most will be pacified.

Mine is still a original stobe bulb. I have a upgraded one from pinbits that i haven't installed bc the original works so well imo.. After seeing what afmr uses id guess maybe its the direction its facing (downward i believe)? The original light spans out in every direction bc of the type of bulb used.

#617 6 years ago

Maybe a led that spreads the light around more? 28SMDT1012VNW-2T (resized).jpg28SMDT1012VNW-2T (resized).jpg

#620 6 years ago
Quoted from bigdaddy07:

Thanks for pointing out that yours is still original. I wonder if simply tilting the board face forward slightly would make a difference? That would at least push the flashing effect a bit further across the playfield.

Thats what im thinking also....

#625 6 years ago
Quoted from NeilMcRae:

doug, it might be useful for you guys to do a video in lower light conditions on a production unit - The video above of the original AFM is more or less played in the dark.
Keep up the great work and looking forward to getting my LE
Neil.

Ive played afmr in the dark and its still underwhelming compared to my video above. Also i do have a light on in that video but i do have the backbox blackout mod which helps alot when the gi on the playfield goes out. Seems other current owners of afmr are also looking to get the strobe brighter also...so its not just the deadflip vid.

Houston we may have a problem......

#692 6 years ago
Quoted from sparechange1974:

Sorry your pin has a split decal. Have you given them a chance to respond or opened up a ticket yet? I guess I'm wondering if they even know it's an issue. Typically you go through the distributor or work direct (after distros opens trouble ticket). Why come on here first?

Yes but decals just dont split .... it happens bc of where the cab joint is and its coming apart or shifted.

Its afm of course its awesome.... my favorite and most played pin still after years and thousands of plays....

Quoted from Aurich:

I was at league on Sunday, and someone pointed at a pulsing insert on the playfield of an original, and said on the remake you couldn't see that the light was pulsing, that was his observation from Cal Extreme.
Anyone know what's up with that? Problem? Solved? A setting issue?

I noticed this also on the ones i played.....maybe a setting or something

#1036 6 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

I am in the extreme minority but I didn't think it added that much to the game. The animations look good but I usually don't see them while playing. I wasn't a fan of the score "dots"--they appear to be just giant versions of the MMr color upgrade. Either way, I don't look up enough to see most of it. I am in on a Classic.

Yea i love the upgraded graphics on the classic size screen also....

#1039 6 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

I don't care for the look of the speakers on the big screen version, and I don't need either powder coat option either, but I do want the colored dots. We'll see. I love AFM and the remake is tempting, but the 'upgrades' don't do anything for me, couldn't care less about the topper either.

Quoted from bigdaddy07:

Sounds like the classic version would be the one for you to get. You still get brand new everything, but without all the upgrades.

A classic afmr with color will still be around 7200 shipped. I found a beautiful unfaded original with lots of upgrades for alot less. So depending on what u want there are lots of options.... good luck its a great game.

#1058 6 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

Haha yeah, that's exactly my thinking. I can't find the price matrix anymore, what's the SE? Like $7200?

7600 shipped.....

Ive had mb, mm and afm at same time ...... mb is cool theme with neat toys but just dont stand up to mm or especially afm imo especially for 8500+. I sold mb and dont regret one bit bc it gets stale pretty fast especially in a smaller collection. Code is no where near as good as mm and afm and the shots are not as good eaither. I really hope cc , kp ,bbb is next .

Quoted from paynemic:

It would need to have added rules in my opinion. I just owned and sold a mint one because I found it lacked depth. Not sure why it's worth so much. Kinda cool layout though.

Agreed. I had a very nice very modded one and it was fun for a few months but not worth the 4-5k i had in it. I like all the ramps but thats all it really is lol. I doubt they remake ot since the topper is impossible to reproduce correctly. Its one the best toppers ever imo...
