Thanks Doug ! What a great day for pinball.

And for you first time NIB AFMR owners : Back box key is hanging on a hook inside the coin door. To get into the CGC menu, hold the Escape Button down for five seconds or more until the game goes into the CGC menu. And the leg bolts, and back box bolts are in the cash box. So you'll need to have the game on a pinball cart or something to cut the strap to open the coin door to get them.

And should you have any questions or problems : http://www.chicago-gaming.com/ Under Support open a ticket on the Help Desk. Or contact me.

Quoted from Concretehardt:

can you say if AFMr will have a SOL/scoop protector installed on it and if so will it be a Cliffy or Mantis style protector?

That is the plan. Been posted before.

LTG : )

#38 6 years ago
Quoted from Mizzou0103:

I played the two that were at Pinfest and the flippers felt a bit weak

You can make them stronger in the CGC menu.

LTG : )

#40 6 years ago
Quoted from Mizzou0103:

Now it's just a matter of figuring out which model to get.

That's the hard part.

Do you want the standard, or bigger screen and saucer LED show and longer warranty, or bigger screen, more saucer LED show, mirror blades, topper light show and two more saucer LED show up there too, and the big martian hopping up and down, and longer warranty.

LTG : )
Disclaimer : The fall industry show in Chicago when the original AFM was shown, people really loved the Martians hopping up and down. Now 22 years later we get the big one hopping up and down too.

#52 6 years ago
Quoted from rubberducks:

Does anyone know if CGC are intending to bring MMr back in house?

Make a bunch of AFMR, then more MMR standards, then more AFMR. All at CGC.

That's the plan.

LTG : )

#59 6 years ago
Quoted from arcademojo:

Any news if they will make MMR with the larger display?

Rick posted on the MMR forum that CGC is looking into it. Some software, cable, and display. No idea when, but it seems to be in the works.

LTG : )

#104 6 years ago
Quoted from Concretehardt:

OT: would love to see the new large display offered on MMr!

Rick has a post on the AFMR section of his forum that CGC is looking into doing this. Display, cables, software, etc.

LTG : )

#183 6 years ago
Quoted from arcademojo:

How much you wanna bet the next run of CGC made MMR's will be called the MMR SE with the bigger screen.

I have heard of no plans like that at all.

LTG : )

#189 6 years ago
Quoted from arcademojo:

SO is the smiley face a hint?

No, that has been part of my signature line since 1996. The LTG goes back to about 1975.

LTG : )

#205 6 years ago
Quoted from DeeGor:

The MMr firmware is composed of a couple linux images that are loaded up onto the beaglebone. If you're crafty, you can extract the images from the firmware file, and mount them on to your filesystem. Once mounted, you can directly access the sample files. I ran them through a program that increases the volume of the callouts. You can also enable the profanity callout if you wanted to as well.

Awesome. One of those things I wish I could do.

LTG : )

#210 6 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

C'mon Doug and Rick! Official fix release please!

Probably not up to them. Both are great guys and like fun stuff too. But they have license stuff they have to abide by. So I'm sure there is a reason beyond them preventing it.

LTG : )

#236 6 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

Was thinking the SE but we'll see

From your previous post, same playfield parts on AFMR as original, playfield lifts up, slides foward to rest on front of cabinet, or slide forward to lock and lift up and lean back on head.

Different models posted on the CGC website :

http://www.chicago-gaming.com/afm.php

Besides the differences between each model, warranty gets longer as you go from Classic to Special to Limited.

Quoted from Nexyss:

those light up panels were probably the most impressive difference from the original.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/pingraffix-%e2%9a%a0%ef%b8%8fwarning-new-video-of-mod

Add them if you want.

I'd go with that.

LTG : )

#312 6 years ago
Quoted from dawasa:

Will the dancing Aliens have lite up eyes?

No.

LTG : )

Quoted from chrisnack:

Lets call them martians instead of aliens

You mean those green hopper dudes ?

LTG : )

#389 6 years ago
Quoted from fosaisu:

As for licensing costs, this interview with Roger Sharpe is interesting, he says all the licensing deals he's ever done were for "far less" than $100 per machine.

And how many years ago was that ? And Raul Julia was still alive, his estate's prices have gone up since then.

Quoted from fosaisu:

If that holds true, licensing costs really shouldn't be a huge factor in deciding which games to remake next.

I would hope that.

LTG : )

#400 6 years ago
Quoted from adii:

I would be in on one so fast! And I wouldn't care if destroyed the value of my original WH20 afterwards.

If they did it. I'd like to see two versions. Original, and one with white mountains and snow monster instead of brown mountains and big foot.

LTG : )

#411 6 years ago
Quoted from denmark71:

Any word on Chicago Gaming possibly making MMr's with the large display like AFMr LE?

Talk. Nothing yet, either way.

Doug,
First I would like to say thank you for setting the bar in responding to questions and concerns. I wish other manufactures would follow your lead here.

Please send him the links in a Pinside PM. He may not get back to this thread soon.

LTG : )

#636 6 years ago
Quoted from J85M:

Are the next batches of MMR being produced in house by CGC or still being done by Stern?

I don't know if Stern is finishing up any MMR's from before.

It's been posted CGC is making AFMR's now, 500 I think. Then CGC will make more MMR's, and then back to AFMR's.

LTG : )

#638 6 years ago
Quoted from hocuslocus:

all three pop bumper brackets break.

They break in commercial use too.

LTG : )

#650 6 years ago
Quoted from KozMckPinball:

Doug, are the AFMr side rails as dangerously sharp as the MMr ones were?

No. CGC has taken steps so this doesn't happen again.

LTG : )

#651 6 years ago
Quoted from Higloss67:

Problem still exists on MMr. Just cut my thumb on the side rail yesterday. This machine was built on 6-21-17

There shouldn't be too many of these still out there.

Please go to CGC and under Support open a ticket on the Help Desk.

LTG : )

1 week later
#662 6 years ago
Quoted from Marcdaddy:

Someone said they are building 500 more MMRs? I received mine last week and the build date was in June 13

You probably have a Stern built one. CGC plans were 500 AFMR's, then 500 MMR's, then back to AFMR's.

No idea when Stern will be done with MMR's they have left, if any.

LTG : )

#698 6 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

I wouldn't count on CGC to respond to any issues that might arise on this forum.

They don't live here. They don't see everything. Best to open a ticket on their support desk.

LTG : )

#699 6 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

It's just that I've been watching and reading for years

Doug Duba and Doug Skor have only been posting since late August 2015. Doug Skor takes very good care of the CGC support desk.

LTG : )

#700 6 years ago
Quoted from ASOA:

I did put in the post that I did not speak with them yet because I just noticed the issue today.

Go here - http://www.chicago-gaming.com/ under Support - Help Desk, please open a ticket now. You can put pictures too.

Way easier than multiple posts in multiple threads.

It may go to me. I'll alert it to Doug Skor.

LTG : )

#702 6 years ago
Quoted from Higloss67:

I just opened a ticket with CGC, and sent them a couple pictures.

Your ticket alerted to me. I updated it to Doug Skor at CGC.

Thank you.
LTG : )

#704 6 years ago
Quoted from ASOA:

I also opened up a support ticket for my game issue.

It alerted to me and I updated it to Doug Skor at CGC.

Thank you,

#707 6 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

Does this count as CGC responding on this forum?

I do tech support for them, so I would think yes.

Quoted from Wickerman2:

I'm trying to keep score for a concerned party

Please don't. He's a good man.

Wasn't green trim supposed to be exclusive to LE?

Yes. This game might be an early sample and not a production game.

Quoted from Marcdaddy:

tell me how tall the TOPPER

About 9 1/2 inches above the backbox. Allow a couple more inches for when the big Martian goes up.

LTG : )

#902 6 years ago
Quoted from Marcdaddy:

Better be enough for the topper

Plenty of room.

LTG : )

#921 6 years ago
Quoted from PW79:

How can this be if others are waiting?

Ordered earlier.

LTG : )

#922 6 years ago
Quoted from kidchrisso:

I mentioned had a pin plug that should not have been there

4 pin connector, one grey wire, one black wire. Goes next to flasher connector on the small board ? You might cut the pin off the board and put the plug back in the connector so it never gets mixed up.

LTG : )

#923 6 years ago
Quoted from EricHadley:

But the quality and game are worth it!

They really knocked it out of the park. And getting the assembly line up to speed fast and number of units built daily.

I get a woodie thinking about other remakes in the future and what they'll look like with big screens, light shows, and unique toppers and anything else they add.

LTG : )

#967 6 years ago
Quoted from kidchrisso:

Am I missing anything on top of this post?

No. It's to prevent balls getting stuck in that area. From the VUK or flippers.

LTG : )

#991 6 years ago
Quoted from DSL_:

The email with the tracking info came about about 30 min after delivery.

Fed Ex must have one of them flux capacitor dohickeys.

LTG : )

#997 6 years ago
Quoted from DSL_:

Wouldn't it be safer to just pull the plug out of the molex

As long as in the future no one plugs the connector in the wrong place or plugs it in backwards.

LTG : )

#1002 6 years ago
Quoted from pintechev:

Maybe it was an issue they weren't aware of until it was reported here and future games will be addressed?

Somehow, some games slipped through with the small topper board not having one connector pin removed. Small topper board connectors are labeled as are the connectors.

On the LE's, the topper that comes with it is tested on the game. They don't know how some got out there with the pin intact. They are taking steps to prevent it in the future.

LTG : )

#1012 6 years ago
Quoted from DSL_:

BTW mine shipped with code 1.1. Is that the latest???

DSL

You are in the Williams programming. It will always say 1.1.

Go into the CGC menu. Hold the escape button down five seconds or more and you go into the CGC menu. First screen has the software, most recent is 1.0.0

LTG : )

#1107 6 years ago
Quoted from pinballinreno:

The code in CC is no way finished at this point.

What isn't finished ?

According to the design teams fireside chat at Expo years ago. One rule on the rule card isn't in there. And they explained why it got left out. Everything else is done.

LTG : )

#1129 6 years ago
Quoted from sandersj:

Now I'm doing an experiment as to I how long it takes my kids to notice the new box in the basement.

Don't forget. They will be the ones picking out your old folks home.

LTG : )

#1145 6 years ago
Quoted from gunstarhero:

He's a company man now, cut him some slack.

You mean like don't bring up the time he showed his boss on the new P2K how you could lift the playfield up and lean back and the balls wouldn't roll out ? Except they did, the game he demonstrated on didn't have the flapper to stop them. Out they came, bouncing on the floor. His boss was real impressed.

Can't wait to critique his game when it comes out.

Quoted from flynnibus:

so what took them so long then?? and why was MMR such a trainwreck of a project in communications, expectations, and execution? Rick was a contributor.. but once it came out he really wasn't driving.. don't know why CGC didn't rescue it with the attitude they are showing now.

I can't speak for them.

My thinking is, it was a learning experience for everybody.

CGC dealt with distributors. The collector/hobby market is a whole new experience. CGC probably didn't even know about Pinside when this started. And dealing with a remake pinball owner one on one.

And the bumps along the way, like get Stern to assemble, as soon as Stern was up to speed, Stern moved. So start over. Added time and grief to getting things rolling. Who checks ticket desk. Who ships warranty parts. etc. etc.

And now that they are rolling, more time, and easier to sort out the who, what, where.

They make a quality product. They provide quality service. And getting quite experienced at it.

#1193 6 years ago

The topper has some connectors before you get to the ends that plug in. Then the end connectors go to the small board in the head and two of them go to the big board in the head.

Please go over all of them and be sure they are pushed in tight.

Next step, please go to chicago-gaming.com and open a ticket on the support desk.

Thank you.

Quoted from lash:

what is the best Installation for strobe Light to become it on the original afm?

If you have the latest software in your game. In the CGC menu, you can turn the LED strobe brighter than the original.

LTG : )

#1212 6 years ago
Quoted from lash:

I have Version 1.0, but i cant find the Point

Go into the CGC menu ( not the Williams menu ) first page has software info, check if yours says 1.0.0.

Once in the CGC menu, every time you hit the escape button, you advance one page. The 5th one has the strobe on it.

To get into the CGC menu, hold the ESCAPE button down five seconds or more and the game goes into it.
