And a new game from Multimorphic -cosmic cart racing

All I can say is hats off to CGC for the best kept secret in pinball. We’re a week out from TPF and we still don’t know for sure what the next title is.

Wow, this has been a long time coming. I can't even remember how many Expos ago it was that they were running the looping 'demo' for it.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I may sound naive but I really had no idea how many people went to shows just for the reveals.

Personally I'm spoiled as shit when it comes to just playing pinball. Going to a show to see and play some games doesn't have a strong draw for me anymore, I can do that all the time.

I'm not going to Texas, but if I was it would be because I wanted to see the new goodies (and hang with friends from out of state).

True.

I also wonder what this "new tech" causing a delay is. Or is that just a ruse?

#56 1 year ago

regardless, pretty shitty to back out at the last minute! I say they give everyone of us a $55 voucher towards machine.

Or perhaps a free diffuser with purchase?

You are so right. How crappy of them to release something before it’s ready.

A remake is going to blow me away
Hmmmmm ?

I gotta see this

Lame.
I have never gone to a show to gawk at new games.
Look at the vendors; sure. Play pinball, socialise are the only reasons to go.
That's why Chicago is dead to me...

#62 1 year ago

I like my originals but did buy MMR & ordering AFM LE

stern does it every reveal!

Zing.

#65 1 year ago

I am a little bummed that game 3 isn't going to make it to TPF. I was looking forward to see the improvements. Funny thing I couldn't care less about the next stripped down sterns release, and that would be a new and different game.

#66 1 year ago

I gonna say the delay is incorporating the new gameplay features on BBB.

Code was pretty much prototype stuff on it. Would be the perfect example of their statements. If true that would make the second remakes a better game then the originals or first remakes by Gene,

Come on fellows..... lets start dumping those 20k BBBs .

#67 1 year ago

It might be game 3 is done but production is backed up on AFM and MMR and CGC dosen't want to reveal a game that they can't supply right away. That seem more likely to me

#68 1 year ago

I wonder if the instruction card will be the same ?

Kingpin gonna be there tho

#70 1 year ago

It’s ok CGC, take your time remaking another 90’s classic!

I was going to TPF at least in part for the reveals. Primary was to hang w friends and play some pinball, but the decision to blow vaction time and travel dollars was at least in part for the promise to see some reveals (next remake in particular which I planned to evaluate for possible route purchase)

CGC had said they would be revealing the game at TPF. I personally think they should still reveal the game even if they are not bringing it. Lots of potential customers that wanted to know what was coming...

I assumed Stern would be revealing the next game, but that is on me as it was just an assumption.

Still looking forward to the next P3 and seeing KingPin (assuming not for play yet?) and playin ACNC, but have to admit I am bummed to not get to see the reveal of the next remake, next Stern, and in reality not be able to play ACNC at all (not showing it till after 4pm on sat and lines will be super long now).

Reveals are part of the electricity and fun of any bog show.

#72 1 year ago

I am one of those who are disappointed but relieved as well.. I need time to recoup funds after TNA so make sure your game is right CGC!

I'm with you, TPF is the show to announce the new game and talk about what's new and different compared to the original even if the game itself is not ready yet. It's a missed opportunity to get a large amount of pinheads excited about what's in the pipeline.
Regardless, I plan on having a blast at TPF but at they same time was looking forward to the reveal

More like :

55 entry
2000 first class plane ticket to tpf
1000 two nights at Ritz Carlton
1500 bottle service at strip club
4000 hookers and blow

The way I see it, CGC owes me a free game #3.

sometimes pinside, you crack me up. Hundreds of threads whinging about games being released before they were ready. Yet CGC does the right thing and waits until the game is ready and its whinge central too! We were flying over from the UK for this launch so its not great but still a huge amount going on at TPF!

Neil.

#76 1 year ago

I’d be more concerned and let down if they said the free play game section was going away.

While seeing new shit is cool and all I hate fighting the crowds. Especially in this hobby where apparently deodorant is optional.

selling a game that is half baked vs announcing and let people at least see the game at a show you previously committed to attend and reveal at are 2 very different things.

They are dumb to not take advantage of the current largest pinball show in the US, where lots of people booked the trip at least partially based on that selling point of seeing the next remake.

#78 1 year ago

I'm thinking reveal will be in Sept now. Just a hunch.

Wow I would be a little bummed about this especially if it was advertised. I wouldn’t blame tpf in any way more cgc. I mean at least announce the game, jesus

I think the new game at shows thing is super over sold. For the most part the new games always have long lines and I do not even usually play them at shows as you can't hear them, they are setup poorly, and it's not worth the wait for the experience. Stern is usually the exception as their games are typically setup fast and correct. There's hundred of games to play and lots of rare stuff. Why spend your whole day in a line waiting to play a new release that usually doesn't play great to begin with yet?

The same people that would have preordered a game at a show are the same people that will preorder a game when it is announced online. Stern's IMDN will be a success if it looks awesome at release no matter when and how it is announced. If it doesn't look awesome no show is going to fix that. Same for any of the CGC remakes. We already know what games they are going to be, we already know that they will add upgraded dots and color screens, we already know that they will have powder coat and toppers for the higher end ones. What is there really to see? Do people really need to experience a topper in person at a show to be swayed into buying a game? Either you already like those games and you want one or you don't.

#82 1 year ago
Quoted from jgentry:

..We already know what games they are going to be...

Disagree, we do not know what game it will be this year. Hence all the speculation.

I agree with some other posts above, CGC said they would reveal at TPF and they are backing out. That is a black eye for them. "Announce" is different than "release". I understand the game may not be ready to play but at least announce the game and bring a non-playing prototype. In my opinion, that is less negative than this scenario. I am all for "getting it right" prior to release but nothing wrong with a sneak peak.

#83 1 year ago

Disappointed in the non-announcement of a game that already exists.?

#84 1 year ago

Arguably, it does not already exist. Because it will be NIB..."while deploying some newer technologies"

I agree and thought the same thing. I think it is a bad business move my CGC. Many people were going to check out the reveal and throw their money down on the table. I appreciate the fact that if it is not ready, do not show it but if it is being released soon, then why not show pictures on a flyer and take pre-orders. Seems like an opportunity lost for CGC, I know people do not like pre-sales but CGC have proven themselves in my opinion and they probably could have sold a couple hundred units just by having pictures and a representative to take pre-sale orders.

Also heard it is BBB and not MBR? Not sure if true but I am disappointed. The only reason I see them doing BBB before MBR is they already had the rights. Still disappointed if this is true.

#86 1 year ago

I was looking forward to seeing the extras they were putting into MB.

#87 1 year ago
Quoted from joegeno:

I thought Ben Heck was doing the bible themed game? Or is this a different non-licensed game about a Latino named Jesus who does cool shit?

#88 1 year ago

I agree with everyone who says that CGC could still have revealed the title of their next remake at TPF as they announced months ago that they were going to. That would be better than showing nothing at all after people had already made travel plans in part because of this reveal.

There's not any speculation at all. Rick announced the list of games that CGC will be making. The next one is either MB or CC with most signs pointing to MB. How is that a black eye for CGC? If it's not ready then it's not ready. Release timelines change constantly. The same people that would have bought a MBr or a CCr are still going to whether it's at TPF or not.

Everyone go play ACNC and POTC and then enjoy the hundreds of really nice games. There is always some really rare stuff at TPF that most people will not get a chance to play elsewhere. Last year most of those rare games never had a line at all. There's a pinball show a couple of times a month now. There will be tons of chances to see CGC games and whatever else is released in the future. Everyone needs to have a beer and meet some new people and quit obsessing over whatever is next. Enjoy the now.

Rick did not announce a list of games they will be making, he announced a list of POTENTIAL remakes.

Sure, things can change. But if each remake sells well that is what you should expect. The "Potential" list is the list they plan to make if they keep selling. You guys really make all of this stuff much more complicated in then it is.

#92 1 year ago

Bogus, I’m not attending, but I have been counting down the days to this reveal. Bummer

#93 1 year ago

Was going to TPF in large part for the reveal. May save the $$ now. Bummer! That said, good decision by CGC. If their product isn't ready for prime time, no sense in bringing a pin with potential issues and end up with a black eye.

#94 1 year ago
Quoted from jgentry:

How is that a black eye for CGC?

A black eye is defined as a setback. That is exactly what this is.

#95 1 year ago

yawn.... it's 21 years old and most all of you have owned or played one already.

#97 1 year ago
Quoted from jake35:

Care to expound? I missed the reference.
I dont ever plan on selling mine so what they do means nothing to me, but curious of course.

BBB is on the short list for a soon to come CGC remake.

No.

A black eye is an embarrassment, a humiliation, something that harms a reputation.

If you are selling the idea that people will specifically refuse to do business with them because of a well-explained, in advance, absence at a show, I ain’t buying.

Basically you just have a bunch of annoyed pinsiders. What else is new? I’m pretty sure the sun came up today so what’s different than any other day.

Oh please, who brought his awesome custom game to a show to show it off? Who was all about the PROC row at Expo? You.

New games doesn't have to mean "OH MY GAWD THE NEW STERN IS HERE". The custom games and personal projects are more exciting to me than a new Stern, that's all under the umbrella of "new games" to me. As opposed to going to play old games that I've played before and can generally find without much trouble. SoCal isn't hurting for game availability.

Playing pinball is probably the bottom of my list for reasons I go to shows.

I don't care about the vendors, sorry guys, but I'll just order from you and pay for the shipping rather than haul stuff around, I almost never buy parts at shows.
