Bally, 1992Just picked up a CFTBL and everything worked fine when I went to play test it, once home, when I turn the machine on, the two VUK's on the right side start activating for a couple of cycles. Once I start the game, the ball travels to the these kickers via subway and just sit there not being sensed by the optos I suspect.
Lifted playfield, checked wires to the optos they looked fine. No broken or weird looking solder joints.
Any suggestions on next step in troubleshooting?
Had similar problem before time.May be not the same solution but:
-check on the VUK assembly if you have the small round rubber "rubber grommet" at the button.
Mine was missing and the ball was little bit not center right and the optos didn't sense that the ball is there.
The easiest thing to do is go into switch test to see if it's opened or closed (if you can manually activate it). Then go from there. I'm not familiar with the mechs from that game, but it'll either have a microswitch or an opto that you may need to adjust or clean or replace.
Tried re-seating all connectors related to the optos without any change in status.
In switch tests, the optos related to the issue show as open. When I place a ball in there, it doesn't come up as closed.
It's strange that when I push start, both kickers fire for about 20 seconds.
At a loss. It'l like two seperate issues right in the same area...coincedence?
