Quoted from Digduglus:

For those of you with leds, what did you go with for the ramps and bowl? Mine came with green, but I'm considering changing to cool white. Going for cool white with green and purple rubbers and posts

I did green on the main ramp and blue on the whirlpool.

These sideblades don't seem to be mentioned very often, but I chose them for my CFTBL because they complement the playfield graphics better than other designs, IMO. Ministry of Pinball still sells them.

Those do look nice, but I don’t see them on Ministry of pinball. Does anyone else carry those?

Yes. Mine has these fitted by previous owner - they do work very well. I like them.

These are the ones from wizard mods but I believe they are no longer available

I put in purple for both. There is too much green in the pin already. I only saw green and purple colors in those small LED bulbs.

Here is mine, I searched for a while, these match the original art and the backboard the best... IMO.

Where do you get the standup STARLIGHT light up sign in the back corner of your game ? Home made ?

A previous owner had added it so I’m afraid I have no idea. It does look good , I suspect someone made a small run of them a few years ago ….. I couldn’t see anything online.

Don’t hold me to it but I think that sign was made by lightedpinballmods.

You are correct, I did not make the standup starlight mod.

If you look at post 4511 - soulrider's and look in the very back rhs corner I made the poster mod / rather now as a purchase parts from shapeways and assembly yourself.

Had a little bit of time yesterday. Finally added swinks snack bar, acrylic creature, and whirlpool switch. Sometime in the next 2 weeks finally going to tear down and do a full shop and wax. Going teal starpostd and pink rubbers I'm thinking.

Easiest way to add lights to the pop bumpers? I've got some teal caps and considering some led rings or leds that clip into a socket elsewhere. Juzt seeing what others have done

Quoted from Digduglus:

I used the standard sockets with LEDs and hooked them up to the rear flasher. They light when the ball is hitting the pops.

Better than just having them on with GI.

I also added lights under the outlane plastics.

I put lighting into my pop bumpers, I just connected to the gi so they were static. You can see photos of my machine above a bit in the thread.

#4540 1 year ago

For those wanting to add lights the pops I highly suggest! The game is real dark back there and it really helps. Only downside is - and this is probably why they did not install from the factory - servicing them is a pain because you have to remove the whirlpool main ramp. Here are photos of the bottom of my game… as stated above just wire into the GI!

They are on most of the time so assuming tied to the GI.

First coat of wax on. She was dirty. Switching pop pumber skirts and caps to teal. Also love seeing how shiny the pieces are when they come out of the tumbler after 24 hours.

The hologram lighting lamp. Is that a 12V DC powered lamp? Im looking to replace it with a brighter LED.
Thanks

I used a standaard GU10 12v 50watt lamp. Had the socket changed.

I had teal in also but found it was too much green. Went back to red. They light with the back flasher when hit.

I thought some owners might appreciate this.

So our local Drive-In was closed for 10 years, but thankfully it re-opened during the pandemic. As what more covid-friendly way to go to the movies could there be?! The wife and I went to see Jurassic World there last weekend, and I decided to snap some photos for the group.

The Starlite Drive-In in Mitchell, SD really leans into the retro appeal.

Untitled (resized).pngUntitled (resized).png

The first three rows of cars can use the window-hanging speakers if they want.

20220625_203053 (resized).jpg20220625_203053 (resized).jpg

The owner had to source used speakers from all over the country in order find enough to fill three rows worth. Ours originally came from the Sky-View Drive-In in Carson City, Nevada.

20220625_213259 (resized).jpg20220625_213259 (resized).jpg

There's even an honest-to-goodness slide for the kids under the movie screen (not to be used once the movie starts), just as depicted on Creature.

20220625_203759 (resized).jpg20220625_203759 (resized).jpg

The concession stand has hot food, popcorn, and cold drinks. Plus, one thing we really got a kick out of was that about 30 mins before the movie ended this sign came on under the screen.

20220625_230558 (resized).jpg20220625_230558 (resized).jpg

Had a super fun time. There's actually another Drive-In a bit closer to us, but it doesn't have near the charm or retro-appeal that this place does. So when we're feeling like going to a Drive-In, we almost always choose this place.

So cool!

Grew up in the Mitchell area -- was super excited when Jeff Logan decided to open the Starlite back up. I was worried it had gotten completely trashed as there had been road construction material, etc, staged there over the years. But it stayed pretty much as I remember it growing up!
