We just got a nice looking Central Park. I was surprised to see that is has a manual ball eject (there is a plunger that you push right under the regular ball plunger that ejects the ball into the plunger lane).

On our table, you can eject a ball into the plunger lane any time you want. This means you can eject 1, 2, 3 or all of then on the same turn.

Is this correct? Since the term "Multi-ball" did not show up until years later, it does not seem right.

Also, when it arrived I tried to open the table to see under the playfield and it seems to be bolted down. Like there is a lock to unlock or something. I don't want to seem like an idiot, but I can't open this table

Any info would be appreciated, thanks

That is how it works.

You can shoot as many balls as you like.

Look inside for a handle you pull to unlock the playfield. Should be about a foot in and pretty obvious.

Yes, Gottlieb used the mechanical ball lift up until King of Diamonds, when they switched to a ball count unit and automatic (1967).

Until they integrated the playfield lock as part of the lockdown bar, they also used the playfield latch bar inside the cabinet. There should be a gold colored bar that stretches across the inside of the bottom cabinet. Pull that towards you, and then lift the playfield. Might need to also pull back the plunger a bit, so the tip doesn't catch on the playfield. To set the playfield back in, you also have to pull that bar towards you, settle the playfield down, and then release the bar to latch it back in.
