Has anyone here played the Centaur Revisited code at Texas Pinball Festival? I'm priced out of this game, but keen to find out what it's like

didn't try.. not a good environment to experiment and try to learn. You only have a game or two due to crowds, it's hard to hear, and there wasn't anyone there that knew the game.
Even with Fathom in a home spot, its difficult to self explore what's really going on in the 2.0 code.
Quoted from oldskool1969:the 2 blokes I know who have played and enjoyed had one word to summarise
" B E A U T I F U L "
It is a beautiful machine! I have wanted a nice centaur for a long time now but not many come up for sale. I would have put a deposit down for a haggis centaur, but after the fathom debarkle I wasn't keen to be strung along and lied to. It is a big shame as they make an amazing product. Fathom is a work of art and a well built machine.

Saw the game at TPF, and they do build a beautiful looking machine. I have been a centaur fan since the game came out and was a holy grail game for me and have one in my collection. Was about 35 years after falling in love with it that I had the surreal experience to share an office with Jim Patla and getting to hear stories of Bally from that era.
While I am thrilled more people will get to experience centaur, the colorized playfield, imho, is a crime against pinball. The original playfield is a work of art, and it was done in black and white for a reason, not like color was not available, and changing that is undermining what the design team intended and is an insult to their creation.
What I find most puzzling about haggis is this move to remakes. I know I career changed into pinball to get a chance to create pinball, and hopefully create something special that will be enjoyed for decades like centaur. Seems odd to me, to get into pinball just to manufacture remakes and not create new experiences. I guess you can argue the 2.0 thing is creative and new, but, it is still building on something others created. Just seems If what you want to do is be a manufacturer, there are more profitable manufacturing businesses to be in. i hope someday they will go back to creating new pinball like Celts.
To each their own and I wish them the best of luck, but I will not play a colorized centaur.

Anyone pay their 20 thousand dollar non refundable deposit for 8 ball deluxe yet? Should be out before the end of the year! So excited!

I don't think 50 machines will ruin the world, but they ARE making black and white one's too. They had one of each at Pinfest Newcastle last year, Josh.
I felt the art was better in black and white, so purchased the black and white. I've also owned an original.
I'm guessing you'd hate what's been done to this poor old Eight Ball that was actually changed from the original, not created from scratch with no harm done to anything original then.
Quoted from rosh:The original playfield is a work of art, and it was done in black and white for a reason, not like color was not available, and changing that is undermining what the design team intended and is an insult to their creation.
Wasn't the lack of color because the designer decided to use less money on printing the playfield to offset costs in the rest of the BOM? Less screens used = cheaper production playfield. At least that was my understanding off reading Michael Shalhoub's books.
That said, they did do the art going in knowing it would be black, white, and red screens only vs the normal 7-11 silkscreens.

Yeah they look freakin stupid and I'm not saying that to be a jerk, I'm just being honest. I just never understand why you're so proud of these dumb boring looking things every time you post them. I mean cool, it doesn't break my heard that an 8 ball was sacrificed to make them, and I'm down for whatever homebrew stuff people want to make, I just think those boomer surf games are a bad example of what is a cool homebrew.

I am all for custom pinball machines, including re-themes, which is the first kind of project I did (Grand Prix to a Camp Wigwam -- in hopes of introducing a new generation to pinball). Of course Grand Prix is a game of very high production so not like one less was going to be problematic. Love all of the creativity that I have seen go into re-themes, whether it has custom code or not. The growth of the custom pinball community, now a highlight at many shows, is something I am happy to have had some influence on. There are pieces of my code that likely exist in a majority of them.
I would be far more outraged if Haggis were only doing the colorized version, and happy they are doing B/W so more people can enjoy the game, especially for those who are afraid of having to work on games built 40 years ago. But colorizing the playfield for a production release, as I said, I view it as a crime against pinball, but as I also said, to each their own. When I saw it at TPF, it made a me a bit ill, and there was just no way could I press Start, but not like I am going to get mad at those who do, just might look at them with a bit of disgust

I have no issue if someone wants to do a limited re-theme, he is deliberately trying to conflate the two.
To give Haggis credit you can pick what you want and the color version is far better than the garish playfield CPR offers.
Put me down for B&W Centaur only.

I’m going to be honest as well. Why would you say something like that to another pinball guy about his pride and joy?
You’re not a very nice person.

I’m going to be honest as well. Why would you say something like that to another pinball guy about his pride and joy?
You’re not a very nice person.
I find lying to somebody to be something a nice person wouldn't do. That said, the real answer is because I don't feel the need to be nice to people I don't view to be very nice people themselves. I also don't care for the way that it was shown on the basis of a false premise. I've seen the games many times and never spoke up before.
I'm all for people doing rethemes generally and obviously I have seen much worse jobs, but if you're gonna do all the things that have been done in these threads and then post that like you think you're hot shit, I'm gonna let you know how I feel about it.
This wouldn't be the first time I was accused of being an asshole, and it wouldn't be the first time somebody was right about it either, but it is what it is. I think regular 8 ball looks a hundred times better *shrug* The work appears to be competent but the execution is poor. If its any consolation, if any of my projects turn people off, I hope they will have the decency to tell me the truth instead of lying to my face because they don't want to seem mean.
Quoted from punkin:I'm guessing you'd hate what's been done to this poor old Eight Ball
Yes, those are a crime against sight and should be ritually burned.
(I'm sorry Kevin, he literally asked for it.)

Because remakes are already designed and engineered and people know what they are buying, and as you know some non licensed themes struggle to sell, a Remake you will sell 250-500 min, watch the remakes being made coming in qty this year?

Take this as you will, but, you appear to be really negative unless you sell it!
I know you are the middleman and not manufacturing so it is easy to judge those that do.
I truly believe Haggis will prevail and prove most nay sayers wrong, including you Wayne.
They are and have re-engineered for the better now into future releases onto small Aussie company success.
I’m sorry , truly for those who are waiting, I am happy with their product and don’t want to see it go to shit.
Go Aussie, Go Haggis

So they got recapitalized?

What does that statement mean? What do you know, that might help buyers feel better about their purchase? I mean, maybe you know something. Flipside is you dont know shit, so quit saying there is a future that you know nothing about. Peoples money is on the line.

The problem is, in the absence of Haggis talking or shipping games, all that's left is speculation. Yours or others. Same diff. Neither are official Haggis representatives.
Quoted from thekaiser82:If we try really hard we can get this thread locked like the fathom thread. I have faith.
Keep rocking the roof and drawing dicks on the wall instead of discussing the Centaur and i'm sure you guys will get it locked.
As a bonus you can keep driving the price of these games down with your negativity and then say that the price drop is proof of your negative statements.
Can anyone say 'self fulfilling prophecy'?
Here's an idea, instead of going into hype threads that are about particular games and not even about the pinball company, why don't you start your own thread to bash haggis the pinball producer in and leave us poor wretches alone to sit and patiently wait for our games?
You even have the mods convinced that these threads are about Haggis and not the games themselves.

At the moment I am mostly excited about the Australian Grand Prix. Watching Practice 2 right now. Beautiful venue. Would love to go someday.
Quoted from punkin:Haggis are shipping games. The are also talking.
The fall-off in frequency of shipments and directness of communication is the issue. This road is well worn and the people with skin in the game have a right to be concerned.
Haggis is 3 months past their own deadline to be caught up shipping Farhoms, and has made one vague meandering, concerning statement about why with no new date. Thats the problem.
Quoted from PinMonk:The fall-off in frequency of shipments and directness of communication is the issue. This road is well worn and the people with skin in the game have a right to be concerned.
No kidding, what's new?
Who's disputed that?
How have you helped alleviate that concern?
How has bashing the shit out of the company and raining on people's parades helped with that?
How many times do you all have to do that, while shouting down anyone who just say's they are happy to wait and calling them names like child bullies?
When will you consider people who went in with eyes wide open properly warned by you self appointed sheriffs?
For fuck's sake, enough already. Fuck off and start a Haggis bashing thread somewhere and leave the hype threads for the machines to be about the machines.
That's what happened with JJP, people started a thread about warnings on the Mirco playfields, rather than shitting in every JJP thread.
That's what happened with CPR, people started a warning thread about their backglasses instead of shitting in every CPR thread.
Well, looks like this thread has gone off the rails now too. Don't need any guesses to know which person has caused this.

Fact is an Overseas Customer has retained an Australian Lawyer to recover money paid in Full or a Refund of $70,000, for breaching the 8 week delivery window now 10 months. If games are no delivered within 14 days or a refund, a Court Default Judgement and windup orders will follow they are sick of playing games with them.
Is this public knowledge and where do you get this information from?
If proved to be true, why would anyone up vote a post of this nature?
I guess its just me who thinks its bad form
All this anxiety over remakes with a very limited audience (especially at these prices). Go pick up a nice original, restoration, or restore one yourself. 3,700 Centaurs were made, and it's all the world really needs. I've listed this beauty in the past with little interest https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-cq-centaur (no longer for sale). Looks like Haggis does great work (never owned one), but I don't see the risk/reward here! (of dealing with a questionable business).

Some people believe in accountability. Some people don't enjoy being lied to. Some people believe that Haggis either needs to get their act together or else shut down and liquidate their assets to end this ugly chapter of pinball history.
I'm not part of this lawsuit but it's obvious why it is happening and seemed inevitable.
Quoted from oldskool1969:I guess its just me who thinks its bad form
What really is bad form is taking customer money and not delivering a product for months or years (in the case of some Fathom customers). What really is bad form is telling customers that full payment is due because their game is about to be assembled when that is not true.
This.....
