do you have a logic probe? you can see if the transistor is indeed being pulsed by the chips.....sounds like a connection......will it kick reliably if you momentarily jump the transistor tab to ground? you could have a cold solder joint on the connector.....

hey gang does anyone have the files for the home version eeproms that they could send me? I can burn the chips, and I think I have them but if someone already has the patched files that would be easier for me......

hey does anyone here have experience with glare free glass on a Centaur? b does it look better to the point it is worth the price?

#1026 4 years ago

original paint or new paint.........It's killin me....my original paint is not terrible but it is not perfect.....i sit here and i look at my glorious Centaur with its perfect looking CPR playfield replacement ready to go back in....i am working on restoring the coind door and the rest....i bought a stencil kit but I just am scared to death to screw this up!! What do you all think? would you rather see a Centaur with a flawless shiny new paint job, bondo, stencil cab or would you have much respect for an original cabinet with a few scrapes and scars? It's like do i replace the plunger or honor the years of play on the original plunger. What is important for you guys, the true fans? I think the new playfield honors the art and restores the game to its wonderous glory but how far does one go?

well usually i bad hum indicates a bad capacitor......it might be on the solenoid driver board, that big cap in the center......but it could be caps on the squalk and t6alk board.....get a cap kit and replace them all.....

ok so i see a nice cpr playfield that kruzman worked on for $1500, i see a populated playfield for $500 bucks......so hey guys what do you think a completely restored centaur playfield is worth? is it worth it to just create a centaur machine from this? how much is too much for a blank new playfield?

hey guys i bought a stencil kit from pinball pimp but kinda chickened out on doing the cabinet restoration. yes it has bumps and bruises but I think the biggest issue is me being afraid to screw it up! Has anyone done this and how hard was it? what was the most difficult part about it?

#1126 3 years ago

so has anyone experimented with pin stadium style led mods on their Centaurs? I would love to see some pics of people led playfields!

#1128 3 years ago

aye matey the glare is big on centaur....i sucked it up and put on a sheet of voodoo glass....i think it helps a bit...not perfect but better...

hey guys I have been busy optimizing the features on my Centaur and now I need to get these gates correct. Iknow that the farther in, the more likely you get the rebound to the gate but I am wondering if anyone in here has spent much time studying these and might have some suggestions? I almost want to make some kind of slider to test it....what say yall? as a side note, this picture was taken with the voodoo glass still on it....pretty good aye?

greetings humans. quick question...one of the things i see with my game since the cpr swap is the balls seem to hit the glass alot.....especially off of the center targets and even the drop targets, sometimes off of the kickers. is this easily correctable or do i have a deeper problem like the playfield being thicker or something? maybe part placement when i swapped them? also it seems like this machine is never complete or perfect....at one point do i call it done and feel comfortable selling it with it's little quirks? is there ever such a thing as a perfectly running pin table?

so...what is the general consensus regarding the value of our original Centaur games? Will this make our pins more valuable or less? I am thinking it will stabilize the pricing. I have a nice refurbed Centaur and I was thinking of asking $6000 but now I am thinking maybe $7500....

#2181 9 months ago

Sure! A new one cost minimum $15000. I think that bumps up the desire factor and they can buy a nice refurbed original for half the price! If you look at other titles such as Attack from Mars or that one with the castle, the originals are no less sought after….
