Hey - has anyone who has done a centaur playfield swap know off hand how many tnuts you need?

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:Just got a Centaur that needs a playfield swap.
I've done tons of swaps but anything in particular to watch out for on a Centaur?
Did a swap on my centaur the other month and was my first swap so some of this might just be my inexperience but it otherwise went pretty smoothly.
If I remember correctly be careful when pre drilling the clear/holes for the middle posts on the slings (the ones with the spacers.) I believe they are very close to the cutout for the sling shot mech and I ended up chipping my playfield. At least on my CPR playfield. Funny/sad enough this was the very last thing I needed to install to complete the swap.
It’s always said, but be sure to take lots of pictures of the trough/orb Kickout setup. It can be a puzzle to get back together. I didn’t take enough angles but managed to get it back in and without any issues.
Test/measure your pop bumper mechs to make sure the routed holes on your new playfield are correct. I’ve read people had issues.
Of all the things during my swap - my Orb flap in the shooter lane was the biggest pain in the ass to get the screws lined up with the new holes and that little plate.
It’s definitely a unique setup. But when you stop and look at what’s going on with it, it’s not overly complicated.
My problem is that I overthink everything. It wasn’t all that bad, but it was probably the main thing I was worried about during the whole process. I had read a few posts about the whole mech being a pain to deal with as far as the trough goes prior to starting the swap.
Honestly, I think lining up all the drop target banks to work correctly took longer than to reinstall the multiball mechanism.
What is a suitable replacement for the magnet?
I’m pretty sure mine was(is) toast when I bought the game. When I went to do the playfield swap shortly after I picked it up I noticed one side of the magnet was disconnected and the pf was discoloured.
After completing the swap I had a few issues on first start up and I disconnected it again to rule it out. Haven’t tried it since.
I can’t imagine it makes it breaks the gameplay but I also have a voice telling me it should be working lol
Quoted from EvanDickson:I'm finding that a full plunge frequently goes air ball, and the ball lodges here. I'm guessing the ball springs off the trap door. Anyone else ever have this issue? And if yes, is there an adjustment I can make to the trap door, rather than plunge softly and remind others to do so too?

You could try a less powerful shooter spring and/or a new barrel spring.
You really don’t need the ball to hammer into that one way gate anyway. It just ends up twisting the tab. A lighter plunge will get your some variation off that gate and into the rollovers.
Also, is your trap door sitting flush? Or does it stick up at all?
Quoted from EvanDickson:I don't think it's perfectly flush. I think it has a slight upwards bend to it at the free end. I don't think this is great, but I'm not sure how to adjust it.
I didn't realize there were options for the springs, I'll have a look to figure out what might be less powerful next time I make a parts order, that might be a good workaround, thanks!I can probably use better alignment too. The plunger strikes the ball a little to the right of center, I'll see if I can adjust that too, thanks!
Is your playfield original or a reproduction? There should be a shallow cutout in the playfield if I remember that the flap sits in to make it flush with the lane.
Maybe check under the playfield to make sure the two screws are secure in the little plate. I remember spending way too much time trying to line that thing up on my CPR playfield swap.
If it’s lifting up, you should be able to give it a gentle bend back or try flipping it over.
The springs are usually color coded for tension. There’s a few options but Green is usually in the mid range. Brown, the lowest and silver I believe is mid/standard. Can’t remember what I put on mine. I’ll take a look in a bit. Also, if the barrel spring is tired, broken or missing altogether that could be giving you more power than you need.
Quoted from EvanDickson:Here's a question for y'all. This is something I see in my centaur, and in friend's centaur, and on pictures I see of centaur online. The wire inserts beneath the flippers are not centered with the flippers, they're off kilter. Only on centaur, not in any other machines. Anyone know why? It's mildly infuriating.

I was looking at mine on the weekend and noticed the same thing on my cpr playfield. I’ll have to check the original to see if it was the same.
Yeah my original playfield has the same placement.
Maybe they offset that right side down farther to prevent deathsaves?
Posted this in the Bally club thread as well:
Friend of mine has a Centaur that random started giving 5 balls per game.
I assumed it was a trough issue as I know things can get weird on that game if the trough switch gets confused but I guess it’s counting balls played to 5 on the back box.
His friend switched the mpu out with an altek and the issue carried over on that mpu as well.
Seems strange. Anyone ever come across an issue like this?
