That's a huge help s2k4ary, thanks again. As I thought, there's no hole anywhere near the top end of the wireform, the closest one is the hole for the red post near it. I wonder if they changed that part of the pf layout at some point and it's actually correct for my machine.

I like your nice clean standups, did you rivet in new target faces?

#402 8 years ago

Actually, I got this pin not long ago. Haven't really done anything to it yet, but play. I was told that it's HUO, and the playfield/under playfield somewhat reflects that statement. From what I can tell, I believe those standups are original!

Would anyone mind taking a micrometer and measuring the thickness of their shooter lane flap for me? Heaven knows how but my flap actually has a chunk missing from it and needs replacing. PBR sells blue steel sheets in three thicknesses, .01", .006" and .004". My measures to .01" but according to PBR that's for newer 90's games. I'd just like to corroborate the thickness with one or two other owners and make sure I'm ordering the correct sheet.

Got a link? I went thru his site but saw nothing there for Centaur. I'd rather order the blank steel, can use it for a few other things also, just want to make sure to get the right thickness.

No link, just email him about it.

Can anybody help me?

Hey Gang, I have a HUO Centaur 2 that is beautiful. Any Idea what it is worth? I can take some pics, but it looks new. I am possibly interested in selling or trading it.

Thanks, Brian

I'm in ! I actually got a Centaur AND a Medusa as a bundle.

I would like to burn the home rom but can't seem to make the image file correctly. I successfully burned a standard Centaur rom so I'm ready to roll. Has somebody got clearer instructions than the ones at the start of this thread ?
I put the files requested together but when I run the program to create the new rom it doesn't work. Any ideas ?

Nice......that's what I'd call a bundle of joy.

It certainly was. Wouldn't mind a Fathom to join them.

A Paragon goes nicely with Centaur and Medusa.

Not sure if anyone noticed but CPR listed on 12/22 a new (albeit small "boutique") run of Centaur playfields. Get 'em while they're still available.

Brian

p.s., there's also a small run of Fathom pfs that was listed.

#422 8 years ago

i have a decent playfield but would love a new one. i think i am gonna order one and make this a project for me! a new cpr playfield would make the game like new. thanks for the heads up.
btw i ordered the playfield as i am gonna keep this centaur.

Tilt Settings:

My Embryon, Fathom both have "2-warnings" + "lose current ball only" tilt settings -- as expected/desired.

How do I set that on Centaur? I didn't see that in the manual. It is currently no-warning / game over.

Switch 23 on - ball tilt disqualifies ball.
Switch 23 off - two tilts allowed per game then player is disqualified from further play during that game.

Those are the only 2 settings I see.

I'm working on a magnet apron cover for Centaur. Here is the start of it. Hope you like it.

Red rubber...blends in really well with the posts...less distracting than the white.

I'll see what I can do but the game I am using for testing purposes is torn down for a complete restoration. I could use a test fitter for this one. First PM in my inbox gets one delivered for free for test fitting and a photo op.

Wish I had a Centaur to jump on the awesome apron cover! Should sell a good number of them...hope I have a chance to pick one up. Nice work

Normally I would say stay away from matching rubbers and posts, but in this case, with the games color scheme....it looks fantastic. Helps the posts are nice and shiny too

nope gonna do a playfield swap and leave the old rubbers. But your right I better shop it now before I wreck the old playfield even though it's not playable right now.

It needs a ton of work, was stored in a damp location

LOL

what's up with the plastics in there, looks like you can't even see through the double queens chamber or the orb release bonus plastic? Never seen any look that way.

Yellow "patina" not good for pinball plastics?

I've been playing around with the idea of a centaur spinner. I found a spinner from a Pinball Magic that has about the right dimensions and dry fit it in. My goals are to wire it into an existing target (maybe one of the 10 point rebounds or the switch behind the OR) without requiring any playfield modification.

It's a very satisfying rip and doesn't hinder the flow to the lanes

Here's some pics:
2016-02-24_13.09.20_(resized).jpg2016-02-24_13.09.20_(resized).jpg
2016-02-24_13.09.09_(resized).jpg2016-02-24_13.09.09_(resized).jpg

I was able to play a game and observed the following:

1. Doesn't reach all the way across. The post on the left would need to be moved a little.
2. The switch bracket catches the ball. That's not going to work. I have to figure out somewhere else to mount the switch
