You're mixing what the flag at the SC capital symbolizes and what the flag itself represents. For many, many folks in the South it simply symbolizes Southern pride. Period.

There are plenty of Black people who are proud to be Southern, but you don't see them waving Confederate flags.
Umm, maybe you should google the thousands and thousands of pictures of black people (numerous celebrities) sporting the flag. Apparently they didn't get the memo.
