Celebrities, Actors and Pinball Machines
I own a couple of machines, one being Gilligan's Island. The theme for the machine was fashioned from the 1964 SitCom TV Series Gilligan’s Island. I purchased this machine not for playability rather, because of the link to the TV show.
As luck would have it, Dawn Wells who played Mary Ann in the sitcom was at a festival 20 miles from home this last weekend. I decided to take the graphic out of the back box, plus a spare, head to the festival with the intent of getting an autograph on the graphic. Pleased to say that she did autograph both graphics and I have added a photo taken during the event.
Wondering how many other machine owners have pursued the autograph idea for their machines, be it a character tied to the machine, the designer or other?
I should add that she noted to me that at one time, she had a Gilligan’s Island machine at her home. The folks in line waiting to meet her got a kick out of what was taking place, even got some comments about connecting up with Tina Louise for her signature.
Lastly, for the other owners of the game, Dawn Wells is doing a tour this year, coast to coast, look up her tour plans at her web site.
