Quoted from Damonator:

A DIY approach where they just sent us parts of a game as they were available would be kind of fun (for some of us):
February - backglass
March - cabinet
April - populated PF
May - boards
June - topper
(Not advocating for this - just saying it would be enjoyable for me personally)

I heard Spooky pinball was doing this with the Halloween pinball. They didn't get some of the parts in time so they made the machines without them, shipped the machine to the customer, then when the parts came in they shipped those to the customer.

#5252 2 years ago

at least it would be built !

#5253 2 years ago

Tried to put the thread back on track and managed to derail it again. Sorry.

Mostly just looking for updates on whether PPS finalized the final design from their options (think they did), if anyone has comments on it from the bar where PPS was going to put the proto they showed in the quick video, if the subsequent video was ever done or if there are actual pictures detailing the mirroring.

I’ve paid in full for my backglass but haven’t even decided if I will put it in the game as I have an NOS CC translite autographed by John Youssi I may use instead.

It was just the knife handle shooter rod that was sent afterwards, to replace the standard shooter rod that was built with the game at the factory.

I mean....it was the shooter rod... Thats a lil bit dramatic no? LOL.

Simple answer here. Put the signed translite into a lit frame and the glass into the game! Problem solved.

Quoted from PinballGalore:

I haven’t been asked for a bg payment from my distro, after confirming I’m listed for one

We have had to pay in full here in Australia to secure the mirrored backglass. So at least that’s out of the way!

#5258 2 years ago

Anyone think the LE's art blades will be made available as individual parts? I couldn't care less about the topper, but would love to be able to install the new art blades on my SE as opposed to mirrors or third party art.

I did think about that.

I have lit frames for backglass art in a few places downstairs but decided I wouldn’t display any that are on existing games. I have more that I would like to display but just not enough wall space. Cactus Canyon alternated with AFM where JackBot is but I wanted something to tie Sweet Hearts, my card table and PinBot together.

(Star Trek because my main arcade is themed as the Enterprise NX-01 and Bugs Bunny was my daughter’s Christmas present when she was five and asked Santa for “a real pinball game” so that one is kind of permanent now)

Thanks. When I asked the carpenter to make the frames with what looked like a lift channel he had to ponder that. He might have thought I was nuts but had just finished woodwork for a starship a few feet away so I’m sure he knew.

Pics of the Star Trek ship and themed elements of the room please . I thought about decorating my arcade this way also ( enterprise bridge theme ) .

Why does the Bugs bunny backglass seem to say "Elvira parties at hot shots arcade" in the score windows???

It’s hard to be patient in pinball especially with no update. Keep the faith - CGC will pull through again!

Quoted from CoolCatPinball:

Because when my daughter was eight she said we needed to open a pinball only arcade called Hot Shots
Years later a Pinsider took some of her art and incorporated it into a logo for me.

(And I’m going to put hidden dates in the Trek score windows)

Not so much bridge as NX-01 themed. I didn’t think of the idea until halfway through construction and since we had visited the set of Star Trek: Enterprise and my wife wanted a shiny purple floor I though that would be a fun way to combine the set pieces and pinball. When you go though the door it “whooshes”, saying “Computer, holodeck on” sets lighting, plays bridge sounds in the background and powers up the games.

I met Karl Urban a few years back and he thought the room was cool. We talked about pinball for 15 minutes while a bunch of people in line wondered what the hell was going on. Although it doesn’t quite fit the room I had the right name for an awesome McCoy “Damn It!” autograph.

The room was built before toppers became a big thing so I only thought about clearance for Safe Cracker and Whirlwind. Batman and Elvira barely made it and the Cactus Canyon topper may be an interesting challenge

jfh: For God sake please stop posting those pictures. Show some mercy! This topic is already replete with posts regarding the topper/LE/backglass we cannot have! Then I see that room??!! It makes me want to tear down my game room and rebuild, which I apparently will have time to do before CCr is delivered! (see how I subtly got back to the topic!) That may be the last working payphone in America.

Right. Even if I had the funds, I would have never been able to come up with something like that.

#5296 2 years ago

jfh That is a hell of a game room, thanks for sharing. That being said, it's looking pretty full.

Are you going to sell a game to open up a spot for CCr (if so, which one)?

#5297 2 years ago
Quoted from polishedball:

Any idea on the square footage footprint you built all that into? Looks amazing

A little over 1400 SF finished (arcade, main game room/bar, theater, 3/4 bath) not counting a utility closet in the arcade and a work/storage/networking/automation room.

Wanted a bright but retro feel because of the jukebox and Coke machine that would work with the Charles Bell art, animation cels, Star Trek, Batman and Back to the Future. The theater was designed to convert to a bedroom. Bookcase opens to a hidden closet and there’s space for a Murphy bed behind where the screen drops. Was going to put BTTF, CFTBL and Batman 66 posters there but that was the one thing my wife said no to.

It was almost 20 years from first concept to completion. We didn't have any semblance of a game room for almost a generation - just scattered games and extension cords dangling from the ceiling because I didn't want to do anything that wasn't "perfect" (which, in hindsight, was pretty dumb because I would still change some things).

Sold the Bally Playboy (my favorite game in college) to free up a slot. Cactus Canyon will go next to EBD to avoid a lot of rearranging.

Lock of space is certainly limiting. Other than CCr I’m almost certainly done, though a new BTTF and/or putting PinBot back may require another sale which would be really hard when everything is a family favorite.

I had over 50 pins in an unfinished basement with only enough power to run six at a time. So you may have to sell some anyway.
