Been there, done that:
Quoted from Nokoro:Thanks all
It's hard to tell her age. The vet said her teeth look young, but her hair was more consistent with an older cat. Though, that may just be from being out in the wild.
Makes me think the poor cat was dumped and not feral. So many idiots think a pet cat can fend for themselves if they put them somewhere in the wild. Glad you found the poor cat in time.
One of mine was definitely a pet and left by my woods and she is doing great now. I had to battle worms and parasites for a long time due to drinking and eating bad stuff being outside. One of her kidneys had a birth defect and being outside made it worse I’m sure.
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:Some of the pills are small and pretty easy to hide, but others are huge and have to be cut in half. They are bigger than the treats.
Had to start pilling my tabby for thyroid problems and it's changed his behavior. I wish there was another way to get treatment to cats. Food helps some but not with all pill types. He now runs from me when it's pill time. Also is timid about coming up for pets or when it's time to come in from the patio. It's not hard to pill him just he's fearful of getting picked up cause he knows whats coming.
Quoted from NYP:If he's hyperthyroid they have a Iodine-131 Therapy treatment that has a high success rate.
Yes I know about it. 30 day isolation and and around $800. Don’t like putting an older cat like mine through something for so long.
Had to put one of my rescues to sleep yesterday. She was only 7. Had a deformed kidney that was from birth and the other one just shut down way too soon. Lots of good times will be missed. Her temp just started dropping and nothing the vet could do to get her kidney to produce over 2 days of trying. Sucks we can’t transplant kidneys for the ones that have issues too early in life. Her last photo says it all. Looking into a cats eyes when you can’t help them is hard.
